It worked for Alex, maybe it works for Kap. In the meantime, just have to root for Gabbert to show something positive. The team needs a spark on offense somehow. Will be tough to do behind this o-line. Gabbert is being placed in a similar situation to what he was subjected to in Jacksonville. Terrible supporting cast and an overwhelmed coaching staff.

i am glad they kept him. maybe this is what he needs,, i am hoping gabbert plays well for many different reasons. one of them is that it would be nice for ck to know he has someone who can push him, he has not had that since 2012. if gabbert is garbage then ck comes in for the rest of the season, the gabbert discussion is finally over

Panthers must have dropped a half dozen passes this week. The volume is only close because Newton has played in one fewer game so far. Kaepernick also has horrible pocket presence and takes sacks where Newton would not (Newton escaped the pass rush on a couple plays last night where any other QB in the league goes down). 2 of Kaepernick's 6 TD's on the season and ~200 yards including a 75 yard TD pass to Torrey Smith came in garbage time against the Steelers down 29-3 heading into the fourth quarter. Take out those empty stats and his QB rating goes way down. The offense is completely ineffective with Kaepernick right now. It will probably still be ineffective with Gabbert, but it's worth a shot. The Panthers are putting up a lot of points with Newton and his supporting cast was just as bad before we got rid of Vernon Davis (his receivers are awful - Ginn can't catch, but still his best WR and their offensive line is bad). Newton still shouldn't be an MVP candidate, but he's a good QB.

Who is even talking about Cam Newton being a MVP candidate? did some nobody just slap MVP candidate on there in all CAPS and pretend like its a real possibility?

Believe it or not, people are really hyping him up as an MVP candidate

Why Cam Newton is a legit MVP candidate :http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/page/hotread151002/why-panthers-qb-cam-newton-legit-mvp-candidate-nfl
Is Cam Newton the NFL's MVP so far this season? :http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2015/10/is_cam_newton_the_nfls_mvp_so.html
Brady, Rodgers have company: Cam Newton for MVP?: http://nypost.com/2015/10/19/brady-rodgers-have-company-cam-newton-for-mvp/

This is why I pay very little attention to the media lol. They're all crazy.

There is really only 1 MVP candidate right now and it's Tom Brady.

Rivers would be in the discussion if his team was winning games. He's been carrying a bad offense that can't run the ball. It's unfortunate that he just lost Keenan Allen and their defense has let him down so often.

Freeman is having a great year, but not a historic year where a RB can win MVP. Gurley is off to an awesome start, but the missed games will probably prevent him from winning even if he puts up 100 yards per game on the season and the Rams make the playoffs.

Newton has been clutch this year and has been carrying a bad offense with his legs and his arms. The argument for him is that he makes the rest of his team better (obvious in the running game where defenses have to spy him). Their offense is overachieving with him at QB. He's been playing really well, but hasn't been efficient enough to win MVP (part of that is on his receivers for not getting open or catching the ball).

Rivers has everything but the wins and Newton has everything but the efficiency rating, but by default, the MVP is Tom Brady who is leading the league in passer rating (despite a lot of drops and an interception that bounced off Edelman's hands), yards per game, and TD's, and leading the top offense in the league on an undefeated team. The media will always produce articles like those even if there is no real debate, because people will read them.

Pretty much. They're just trying to generate some buzz, but Tom Brady is the only right answer.

69%, 20 TD, 1 INT, 115.8 QB rating

The guy has been flawless, nobody comes close right now.
"This the hat y'all mad at? I'm goin wear what I want regardless of what you think," Kaepernick said, via Instagram. "All you need to worry about is the fact that I grind for my teammates and the 49ers! I plan on doin this until they won't let me in the building! #ridiculous #y'allmustbebored"

Well the difference is that Cam didn't basically tell his team's fans to f-off. Kap did it the minute he became famous. I didn't give a crap about the cap, but I did take notice of his entitled attitude. I knew that as long as he was producing people were willing to overlook his b******t, but if he ever struggled, people would remember the attitude. There's more to the QB job then just staying in shape and working out in practice.

His entitled attitude? There is nothing entitled about that tweet. He spoke the truth. He can wear what he wants. Fans just need to stop b***hing.

I remember when i wore a florida marlins hat because i thought the design and colors were cool...and then I started 4th grade the next month.

The point is the guy is an embarrassing twit who acts like a 4th grader...he's a 28 year old man. I'm only 2 years older than him and he acts like an utter boob. No one wants to rally behind that.

Kap is a smart dude but he does seem to get into dumb situations often.

Doesn't mean much. Its not serious and he has the camp taylor going for em.

So he's rough around the edges but its not all bad off the field.

On the field he is playing bad.

Missing the point dude. Who gives a crap about the hat. The fact that the moment he became famous he felt no obligation to the fans, the people that ultimately pay his salary by buying the tickets and merchandise. So the fans are now saying, f-him right back because he's no longer grinding for his teammates and the 49ers
