It goes to show you that the 49er OLine talent evaluations on those guys were pretty spot on.

It's one game into the season, but based on the 49ers performance in Week 1, it's fair to start giving Lynch and Shanahan some grace regarding the OL. People forget Puni played at a borderline, if not, Pro Bowl level his rookie year, and now that he is healthy, he is on that same trajectory.
Names, draft status and big contracts don't make for good players, players, development, scheme fit and cohesiveness do. It's early, but look how far Connor Colby has come in just 1 year, or where McKivitz, a player I myself was VERY harsh on his first 2-3 years, is right now.
There are gonna be games this year where the DL will have their number this year, as there is for every single team even with the best OL's, but I'm excited to see how the next few weeks turn out for this OL
Puni was just hanging on for dear life on one leg for the majority of last year. I give him props for putting it out because I think there are a decent number of guys who would have sat

I want to see them play like this against Seattle. I feel Macdonald knows how to attack our line better than whoever the Rams DC is and would use his weapons better.

McDonald operates on an entirely different philosophy. He attacks the offensive line blockers at the snap. His focus is to prevent the OL from getting into their blocking patterns. He then leaves it up to the back seven to clean everything up. He also values players like Nick Emmanwori who can play multiple positions. This allows him to bring all that pressure from so many different angles. I remember Purdy saying after the first time we played them that McDonald had "a crazy scheme."
