Agreed. I would love to see a film breakdown of Brendel excelling in run blocking this season. If that even exists.

It's kind of like that Jackson powers Johnson guy everyone wanted. He was absolutely horrendous last night but I bet people who wanted him still want him because they just like him.
Brendel haters will hate him no matter what (I'm not a Brendel fan and think he's mediocre, but watching other teams every Sunday he's honestly middle of the pack in the league from what I've seen)

I consider myself objective and open minded, but not on this one lol Brendel sucks and Mckivitz is mediocre. I am not paying my QB 55 mill a year and then putting you at center to protect him. I believe we could work around Mckivitz issues, but the fact Brendel gets blown up on most 3rd downs as well means the QB has no safe haven.
The Cardinals suck so we should be blowing them out, but just as RiceOwneStokes said, if we are fortunate enough to make the playoffs and face those top d-lines it wont be pretty.
That being said, the o-line has performed better than I expected so far this season. I still dream of a top center in this offense.

You didn't see Jackson Powers Johnson last night. He's on injured reserve. But nice try.

We have the season to finish up. OL held up Sun but it's a weakness that needs upgraded.
We need a big OL draft but we might be lucky if we just get the tackle in the 1st everyone wants. We need to pick 2.
i see Balt at this point is expected to lose tyler linderbaum in FA. What does everyone think?
Shanny would rather have a vet center. Draft a tackle to replace Williams and get rid of him to make Tyler our highest priced OL..
Trying not to think too much about it as he could still agree to a deal or get tagged.

Interesting topic. Here is what Spotrac estimates market value of the top 3 FA Centers, and their current ranking.
Tyler Linderbaum - $18 million/yr, #4 ranking
Connor McGovern - $16.2 million/yr, #12 ranking
Cade Mays - $12.6 million/yr, #22 ranking.

Here are the top 3 highest paid Centers in the league, according to Overthecap, and their ranking.
Creed Humphrey - $18 million/yr, #1 (by a wide margin)
Cam Jurgens - $17 million, #21
Drew Dalman - $14 million, #3
Given all of this, Parage would have to do some very special cap magic to bring Linderbaum here. The crazy thing is, TL is VERY good in run blocking but has an almost indentical pass block rating as Brendel.

Yes, correct. There isn't much quality throughout the league, and the point was Brendel is better than probably half the starting centers
So when people say move on, go get someone else, there arent a ton of options. Hopefully we roll the dice on a higher-ish pick this year

Woops! Was just watching their Center thinking it was him. But also a good reminder Brendel is nowhere near the worst

He's absolutely near the worst. He's a terrible pass protector and run blocker.
The people using PFF can not use film to confirm he excels at either.

The 49ers historically invest in T [Staley, McGlinchey, Williams, McKivitz] and C [Mack, Richburg], and opt for more economical routes for G [Tomlinson, Fusco, Person, Brunskill, Banks, Burford, Puni, Colby].
Unless there's a clear and viable upgrade available in FA or trade, I don't expect a huge investment in C above and beyond Brendel. Kyle and the staff prefer vets for the role, so early investment in the draft likely won't be the case.

I don't know what his pff rating is but I watch other teams every week. Brendel isn't nearly the worst center
