But that being said, more importantly pass protection looked GREAT... finally!

The line is honestly playing a little better with BARF in there at LG. Kind of surprising.
He's not terrible. Brendel is s**t and mckivitz cannot handle good speed rushers, but we already knew this.
The continual ragging on Brendel is getting old. Yes, pass protection is his weakness, but his run blocking is ranked #10 among all centers. He was better yesterday than he has been on PP. Overall, Brendel, ranks #11 among 37 Centers with qualifying reps.
McKivitz also gets ragging that he doesn't deserve. He is ranked #12 among OTs. His run blocking ranks #3 in the league, 4 points above Trent. His pass protection is "above average" 71.6. He got beat for a pressure twice yesterday but on one of those, he has Sweat under control until Puni came to help but actually pushed Sweat past McKivitz to get pressure on Brock.
So, there will be some that come on and rant against PFF. However, it is selective memory disorder as the same rating system puts Trent Williams at #4 overall.

It astounds me that some fans are trashing the OL responsible for hanging a 40-Burger on the Cards. What do they want?

People are going to see what they want to see even if you watch multiple times.

if the Niners reach the playoffs, the offensive line will get exposed badly for the third straight playoff appearance….The question is, will Shanahan actually address in the offseason?, or else expect more of the same next year

Agreed. I would love to see a film breakdown of Brendel excelling in run blocking this season. If that even exists.
