#2: Granted, these are just NFL Passer Ratings, but not trying to simply seeking who's best and worst with the list below (this is where so many fail with using numbers on here). I'm instead looking for nuance.

This is where our QB ranks in terms of their 2nd halves vs. in comparison to 1st half performance. Stafford for whatever reason had better results on avg for 2nd halves.

As for our team, We have a segment of our fanbase putting the end of these outings squarely at the feet of our OL and nowhere else.

If what posters keep screaming is true...are OLs known to differe this drastically between halves?
Does this simply illustrate that our OL's just not clutch?
Or should we also be hope to see our situational awareness with games on the line improve with our skill players down the stretch?

The 49ers are not trying to have the #1 OL in the league. They are trying to have a good enough OL to win.

Imo that stat isn't just about one thing. If SF is down in the 2nd half it totally messes up Kyle's play calling…our drop back game is not amazing. That's something Kyle has to get better at.

can the QB play better? For sure, a lot of big moments late in football games aren't calling the perfect plays, but the QB just going out there and making something happen.

As far as the OL goes, if Kyle isn't dependent on having an elite level drop back game. Then we're never gonna invest heavily into the OL. The OL overall has never been dogs**t or really good. Middle of the pack is kinda the MO.

Pretty fair and reasonable analysis in my opinion. If focusing on this in terms of what it says about a quarterback, I'd like to see how it correlates to number of starts as well. Bottom three guys are pretty damn early in their careers.

I also wonder what meaning people make of this stat in relation to Mahomes.
Welp the lions just lost their starting center. Welcome to our hell
What's with this rumor Trent Williams wants more guaranteed money???

If you have huge leads at half or are in a massive hole at half it's going to make a big difference to that stat. If you have a great defense it's going to hurt that stat.
I bet Brock's 2nd half rating in his first start against the Bucs in 2022 was way worse than his 1st half rating. Must have played terribly.

Passer rating is really a better indicator of the performance of the passing offense as a whole rather than the QB individually anyway.

You make the good point that willingly toning down the pass offense in a blowout could skew the number, and so can things NY mentioned like QB performance, drop back design not being a strength of Kyle's, or OL pass protection issues, among many other things.

I don't think it's much of a secret there's a lot of room for improvement on multiple fronts, in have-to-pass situations (to keep it simple).

So you decided to ignore my response to you about the first/second half discrepancy for Brock in the Brock Purdy thread and instead decided to take it to the OL thread…

Why?

Crazy thought…maybe stop looking at the single season where so much went wrong? You don't want to look at single games but have no problem overlooking 1.5 seasons worth of play for Brock to push your narrative?

Brock QB rating in first half for his whole career so far: 106.9

Brock QB rating in second half for his whole career so far: 102.5

Bye bye narrative.

Hahahah truth.
i'm getting more intrigued to see Austen Pleasants compete at swing tackle and possibly RT. krueg mentioned him looking good and moving well in an OTA review vid. Now this:

Line coach/run game coordinator Chris Foerster on who will be the swing tackle
"We brought Andre Dillard here late, we have Spencer Burford and Austen Pleasants. He's made huge improvements. I think he's got something special there. It's a very competitive spot."
