To be fair he didn't say he was great just that he didn't screw up :)
I thought this was a pretty fair and balanced take on the O-line group overall. It's not overly negative, and as they mention the health of the group will probably dictate how well the group does as a whole due to a lack of depth.

Pleasants is getting alot of praise these OTA's. Many have said he looks amazing. And Burford has apparently slimmed down in the mid section and Mckivitz looks bigger in the upper body. Also Burford has been playing tackle these OTA's. All of a sudden the tackle depth doesn't look all too bad with Trent, Mckivitz, Pleasants, and Burford.

I heard Colby looked bad, Moss looked good enough to be interesting.

I'd love to hear all the positive stuff about the OL but I also want to see what's happening once the pads come on in training camp and even more so when we practice/play vs other teams.

One downside of camp reports is when one side looks good...it usually means the other side doesn't.

Health will determine a lot on the OL for sure. Would have liked them to add legit draft picks year after year to develop the OL. Hopefully that will be a little more of a focal pt in 2026 (better draft for lineman).

Hard to say. Last time I got to see OTAs when it was players vs players it was starters vs backups, but most of the time it was just players with their position coaches doing drills and the impression is just how quickly they move and how slim/muscular they look.

All of that is a way to say what players and coaches have said for generations ... can't really tell much until they put pads on.

Tackle depth doesnt look bad? Judging by OTAS with no pads.......lol.

Bingo! I've always laughed about those reports about intersquad games in college and practices in the pros. Like you said they're going up against their own team so when one side looks good it's not a great sign fo the other side.

I did, he said he graded out at the top but didn't say what those grades were composed of. It's a common thing for coaches to do to talk up players.
Just because I seem to like being annoyed ... if Bartch balls out he may price himself out of the 49ers plans next year.

This!
This is an average OL with Trent William playing. Trent has missed games every year he's been with the 49er. He is most likely going to miss games.
Rate the player
Trent William Top 5 Tackle
Colton McKivitz somewhere in the bottom 32 no a bad player not great I like him and he is a great player to have on the team.
Jake Brendel bottom 15 to 30 probably ranked around 25 ?
Dominick Puni top 15 Guard if he plays like he did last year or better.
Who is the Other Guard? Probably bottom 32
Whoever is going to be the back up Tackle is not as good as Colton McKivitz . This is the biggest problem I see. When they have an Injury they are in trouble, because they have no depth. If Ben Bartch is the starting left guard and get injured who is his back up ? Zakelj ? Burford? Hennessy? Austen Pleasants? 7th rounder Connor Colby?? Bartch and Trent are out injured what then ?
