they explicitly said they wanted to be a running team.
Baalke strongly alluded to this. But our OC is the ex QB coach. What do you think his orientation is? If becoming a pass-first team gets any traction Baalke will relent. I think it all comes down to pass blocking. If we repeat last years performance, all is lost because if they know you are running they load the box (see last year).
Tomsula said we were gonna run the ball. No alluding he flat out said it. The Head coach inevitably determines the personality of the team, if he says we are going to be a running team I doubt chrsyt denies his boss. We need balance we need to do both, thats what the best offenses can do.
I remember a recent 49ers coach proclaiming that the Niners "were going to run the football." Simply saying "run the football" is not an NFL offensive philosophy. Well, it is, but it's not successful.
It doesnt detail a offensive philosophy. But when your gm and head coach explicitly say they want to build and develop a team that can run the ball well you kind of get the idea of what they are trying to do. Im not talking about offensive philosophy or schematics. But they want to run the ball and put there qb in a position to succeed, play action passes help with that.
When your GM is the one setting the tone and direction of the offense (or defense), it's not a good thing. I smell a disaster.
Your gm builds around your philosophy, vision, and goals. Wouldn't it be dumb if your coach wanted to build a physically dominating clock control team with a great front seven, and your gm was filling the roster with spread passing game players(not saying this is exactly what they are doing)? They need to be on the same page, so I see it as a good thing they both have the same vision for the team, or would you rather have disfunction?
You know as well as I do that's not what is happening lol
No I don't, enlighten me. Unless you are one of those conspiracy theorist that thinks Jed and baalke are out to get us?
Okay, bro. Good talk.
LOL thats what I thought.
Wow great comeback!
Listen, if you want to drink the Kool Aid, be my guest. Anyone with half a brain can see that our organization is a complete mess right now. That doesn't mean that we're going to go 0-16, but this is not a Super Bowl contending team. Not even close.
Just ask yourself, if management doesn't respect the coach (which they don't, they just like that he's easy to control) then why should the players? All it will take is a couple of losses in a row, the players lose faith, and it's over.
The problem is Baalke and York are so egotistical that they think they can just insert any coach and be successful. Either that, or they don't give a sh*t and will make millions no matter what the success of the team is. Are they "out to get us?" I suppose that depends on your perspective. Did you pay $20k for a PSL, with the promise that Harbaugh would be the coach and we'd have a perennial contender? Because I'm pretty sure that group is thinking that Baalke and York are out to get them.
