After Black Monday, I feel a lot better. Now, it's on to the draft.

All those moves were no brainers. Iupati, Gore and even Crabtree are not. Whitner was replaced on the field but badly missed in the locker room.

Gore is a no brainer. He is 32. He is not Walter Payton. The only running back to be productive at 32. If he gets 1400 on the ground, for 2 years, I ask forgivenesss. Otherwise, wasted money. Good job Balke.

Only hurdles left I see left are Bowman's health and Justin Smith's decision. I'm already preparing myself for Justin not coming back.
absolutely.. we got smith, simpson, bush.. no team is perfect, every NFL team has holes.. our Achilles heel will be the secondary.. i wish we could have gotten a pro bowl corner in the mix (cromartie).. but we have many players that are unproven and i bet one of them will step up.. if not we are in trouble.. maybe Jimmie Ward will move to CB? maybe we will draft a stud, maybe we will sign someone after june 1st who will get cut.. last offseason Flowers was cut from KC around that time.. but i think on paper this niner team may be better than last years.. Gore's production would have gone way down, PWilly would not have been the same after his return.. but we do have Bowman back..

Speed isn't necessarily what we need either. Smith filled that void, now he's got other tasks.

SOOO GOOD, we've been searching for the same speed WR that stretches the field since 2010 and we'll still be searching for him next year. A guy that has caught more then 50 passes just once in his career (with a big armed QB like Flaco) doesn't project as a true #1 WR.

1) What we need is to move up in the draft and get a bonafide game breaking top 1-2 WR. Forget cheap, forget value, for once get the best. This team needs a bold move to keep up point for point with the R. Wilson, Jimmie Graham, and Marshawn Lynch 3 headed monster.
2) A DB that will push wasted #1 pick Jimmie Ward to the practice squad. No more midgets that are too small to cover tall WRs & TEs like Graham or too flat footed to keep up with the faster, shiftier ones. If we are sooooo talented already on this team, then all those picks we have will be wasted because they'll have to be cut. So why not get some true talent in here. Quality, not quantity.

If we can't beat the best team in the division, then all these moves we're doing this off season are pointless.

Looks like we have a Seahawk fan.

If we followed your logic the niners would be piss poor talent wise. There is a good article about Baalke not being hemmed in on the draft. If we had moved up to get Odell last year, we wouldn't have Borland, Hyde in addition to the DB picked. Guess what, hindsight being 20/20. Borland is needed for Willis. Hyde is needed for Gore etc. Otherwise we'd be in deeper kaka. I suspect we will get not just for this year but for the 2016 season as Boldin's contract is up, but also even if Smith is still here for this season to. Dontae may be liked by Baalke to pair with Brock and this year DB's are not deep in the high end, maybe third round or nd earliest. Depends if we jump up a few spots for wr for a Parker or even White, and Amari-quick someone spread a rumor about them so they drop-kidding.

You don't think hell get 800 yards for Baltimore on the ground this year for indy?

you cray cray.

Plus he'll save 3 - 5 sacks on Luck.

Plus he'll catch over 25 balls for 200 - 300 yards.

Baalke was an a-hole to deliberately give him a one year deal and not budge, when he knew better offers were on the table.

Not to sign the best 49ers running back since joe perry? Business thinking is totally out of control.

We will not use anywhere near our cap space, What's the strategy in not throwing 6-7 mil at gore for 2 years?

Baalke knows everything about football. It says right here on page 42, running backs are broken down junk after 30.

So we have to get rid of Gore. We have to get faster to win a championship. That's the proven formula.

It's the one Seattle uses right?

Everything is a no-brainer with hindsight. Iupati and Crabtree are no-brainers right now. Gore will become a no-brainer when a little time has passed.

By the way, unless you were in the locker room, not sure how you can make the comment about Whitner. At the time the team was certainly not short of leaders.

Ya I'm questioning the direction we are going. We use to be one of the most physical rosters in the League. Now we lost one of the top rushing guards (will be replaced with youngster), rushing tandem will consist of 2 guys that have started a total of 1 game. I don't think we've improved, we have just gone a different direction. I prefer Kaepernick behind a strong rushing attack not fast explosive offense. This just screams 3 & outs and turnovers to me.
Why? a diversificated rushing attack with a true over-the-edge-rusher like Bush screams more success than before.

He is a 32 years old RB. Not giving him a contract for 2+ years is absolutely business thinking and not a bit out of control.
Gore is a good RB but certainly not irreplecable and he wasn't ever been lights-out like Lynch or Peterson.

Yeah, speed to the outside is over rated, play calling, good QB play, balanced offenses, there a plenty of things we have lacked for the last decade, so yes he has added some speed to the offense. I wonder if we can take advantage of it, heck I even wonder if it is needed.

You can spread defenses wide, as well as deep, if you can do both then you have something extra special. We have not had the talent to spread defenses wide, or deep. I like the addition of Bush, not because I this k he has much left in the tank, but he represents to me a plan to throw to the backs, and spread the field wide. I hope Hunter gets better, and Kaep develops the touch to work the sidelines.

This! We can't understate this enough moving forward under the new coaching regime!

I really hope we can spread it wide, that in my opinion has been this teams weakness since we lost Garcia! In Alex Smith could spread it out, but he lacked the arm to take in=t deep. Keap is quickly looking like the the Anti-Alex, able to get deep, but not wide.
The importance of spreading out a defense can't be understated, it move the pressure point of the pass rush, creates better throwing lanes, and opens up the opportunity for bigger runs up the middle. It opens up screens, draws, and eventually the deep pass. It helps the O-line create a the kind of pocket a QB can step up into.

It's funny...Alex here, we never attempted deep (does fine with KC though) and with CK, never attempt short (generally speaking). So, I'm guessing this was more d/t the coaching staff and game planning than the actual skill sets of the players...and QB coaching.
