Has Baalke done a good job of getting some speed for this offense this offseason?

We aren't a vertical offense, this isn't Drew Brees's Saints team circa 2012.

We run the west coast offense, and like Baalke/Tomsula said, we are committed to the run game.
Torrey Smith on the outside, Vernon being utilized like he is supposed to, the addition of Bush, and Hunter coming back is more than enough speed for a team focused on the run game.

We need explosive plays to beat SEA unless you think Kap can be Tom Brady all of a sudden and dink and dunk his way to success. We will run the football but it won't always be a predictable power run shift and formation type thing. We will now use misdirection and put our QB on the move and in the option all over the backfield. We are going to open this thing wide open I feel. Of course I ain't in on any game planning sessions. I just feel it though. No one knows what's coming!

How many explosive players do we need?
Smith and Davis running those deep routes are more than enough to shift an opposing teams defense away from press coverage.
With the addition of Bush and Hunter as change of pace backs we will be more than explosive enough.

Remember, this is a west coast offense.

Speed isn't necessarily what we need either. Smith filled that void, now he's got other tasks.

Your answer is confusing.

If signing Torrey Smith. by itself, filled the void, then it seems like Baalke has done a good job of getting more speed for the offense.

I am sure I am doing a good job of missing something.

Maybe, your answer should have been Yes, Baalke with the signing of Torrey Smith has done a good job of getting more speed for the offense.
Now, he needs to focus on the other tasks he has to do

Again, I just find your answer confusing, but that may just be me being confused again.

I guess we'll find out soon enough. With all of the defensive people gone, it's beginning to look more and more like the old Chargers with Danny Fouts and Dan Marino of the Miami Dolphins. Lots of offense but weak on defense.

Fouts and Marino scored a lot of points ... that was the good news .... bad news was more often than not the other teams scored more points.

Just saying!
Quick AND fast. Ellington, Patton, Hayne, Bush, Torrey, Hunter, Simpson, etc. We're going to dink and dunk the crap out of Seattle and then hit 'em over the top on a skinny post!

We absolutely needed more speed.

I disagree completely.

Lol you just agreed with me

Hahaha I did.
Wow, crazy how two words (ed) can change the meaning of an answer.
For some reason I read need instead of needed and assumed you thought we weren't there yet.
My bad lol

Finals week has been killing me
Baalke has done a good job so far of upgrading the team speed. Hopefully this will continue up until next month & also during the draft too!
I'd say yes. He signed the best deep threat available in Torrey Smith. Reggie Bush can still be very effective on 3rd downs. Hunter coming back also brings some speed if healthy. Ellington and Patton have some speed/quickness.

focused on the run game doesn't mean rush it 45 times a game.
we need a BALANCED offense. we haven't have a balanced offense since 2012.
We need to be able to attack a defense any way possible and we could not do that in 2013 or 2014. now we have speed on the outside, a mismatch in vernon that teams can't concentrate on unless they want torrey smith to beat them. we have a work horse beast in hyde. a quick gasher in hunter and a back to exploit space in bush.

when we had vertical threats, kap was the most accurate vertical passer in the nfl.. we are a vertical offense once again.

This ain't Bill's offense though. As far as terminology and some concepts we are a WCO but in reality we are trying to shift to moe of a power run spread offense. You can see it coming togerhter with our various personnel acquisitions. I like it!

JT has been our DL coach a long time and since then it has been tough to run the football vs us. I don't think that will change much. I still expect us to have one of the better defenses in this league

I would like to see one more WR emerge as a downfield threat still yet though aside from Torrey and VD
Shouldn't we wait til the off season is actually over? So far i woukd say yes. Smith and Bush should open things up.

Lol all good bro
If this offense scores 6 fourth quarter touchdowns this season on speed upgrade alone rather than only 1 like last year, we're good. Assuming our defense carry-over from last year will still have us in close games at the end with a chance to steal a few more games.
Must have been hard in '14 for our D to know it was all on their shoulders after halftime.
I expect speed in the draft as well. Go Baalke.
