I remember when the broadcasters first introduced Terry Kirby, they cited how the 49ers traded for him because he's a good pass catcher out of the backfield. Kirby proceeded to take a carry and run for three yards in a straight line. Yet, I was still impressed because we had a two-headed monster now. Two backs that could get three yards on the ground.
If I remember right, that's also the season where the running game was so ineffective that Steve Young started doing QB sneaks during the playoff loss against GB.
