It's entirely possible that Baalke wants to go back to the future; re: 2011 49ers. By all accounts Jed/Trent ideally want a "tamer" Harbaugh as the next coach (having those intangibles without being a gigantic pain in the f**king ass and being less of an ahole).
If that's the case, the Parcells model has a place in the NFL, but I think it's a waste of Colin's skills (assuming he's the guy) and the entire offensive personnel. By model, I mean power run game, dominating defense. That could be a factor in interviewing all of the defensive coaches. The 49ers have to get faster on offense and more diverse.
I expect them to exhaust all options, which means that it could be weeks before the new coach is named, I wouldn't take the '7-10 days' thing seriously other than deciding who they want to target after those 7-10 days of interviews.
That's why I like Kyle Shanahan of the young OCs. He comes from the Gruden-Kubiak-Shanahan coaching tree, so he emphasizes the run game, with a more diverse pass game. I'm not sure they have the players to run the Martz spread (Gase/McDaniels).
I find it interesting that McDaniels wouldn't interview in 2011 because of concerns about the 49ers FO, but that makes sense, he didn't want to hitch his wagon to a new owner and a rookie GM.

I have a hunch the search will last at least until after the Ravens lose. Kubiak interview.

I see that Okoye just signed future contact with Niners,
I heard that he wouldnt sign the other day cause he wanted to make sure Tomsula would be around

Never going to happen.
It could if Mike is HC. Not going to happen the other way around though.
I guess it could also end up :
"Head Coach" - Kyle
Senior Offensive Consultant - Mike

Whatever happened to Mike Holmgren?
Is he a dark horse? His name came up couple weeks ago and stated a couple teams called for him…but nothing besides this.
Is he even a candidate?

Favorite:
#1. Gase (keep Fangio and D Staff)
#2. Fangio (Vet OC Like Trestman or Hue Jackson..if they would let us)
#3. Ryan (With a GOOD OC, he probably would bring in garbage though, Could easily switch 3 and 4 around but I'm hoping #1 anyways)
#4. Kubiak (possibly Holmgren and Shanahan... I think they are past their prime though but would be interesting)
#5. Austin/Bowles (Be near the top of my list if we had a great O and a bad D. Rather just keep Fangio.
#6 Jackson or Hamilton (especially if we keep Fangio and d staff)
Least Favorite:
College Coaches Especially Mora, Helfrich....Bevell, Most of the Retreads, Dan Quinn, Tomsula (be great for 1-2 seasons but rah rah gets old fast, wouldnt bring in good OC likely plus lose Fangio and D staff maybe)
My Dark Horse To Succeed As A HC Although Likely Won't Be Hire By Us: Teryl Austin

We should be the first team to be without a HC

I think Mike Holmgren is a stop gap that could be needed as a bridge to carry over into a SB trophy. If he could hire a young oc to take his place in two years that would be great. Someone like Pep Hamilton that could be polished a little more with Mike and take Colin to the next level of development. For defense let's bring another ex 49er back to the fold in Ken Norton Jr. to run that old 49er defense that he runs in seattle and yes that would mean changing back to a 4-3 defense.with DE being Aldon Smith and Tank Carridine and DT being Glenn Dorsey and Ian Williams. Linebackers being Middle Patrick Willis and outside weak Navorro Bowman with the strong being Aaron Lynch. Seconday the same just resign cox and culliver. If they could add a big time Wideout in free agent and draft a big time wideout as well then resign gore, now we got some coaches who can coach on pete carrolls level and have the talent to match them as well. Have at it mice.

Not one guy I'd take over Harbaugh I just wish we would have paid harbaugh what he wanted and harbaugh in turn wouldnt have been so stubborn and brought in a new oc (and rest of o staff minus rathman) who could help the passing game and stayed out of his way. Then of course keep the D staff.. that would have been the best of both worlds.

Seems I wasn't clear earlier so I'll try again:
Mike Shanahan is NOT going to accept ANY position that involves "working" for his son, paper title or otherwise. The man has simply accomplished way too much over his career to even entertain the idea. In fact, I would bet money that even asking him something like that would result in him immediately getting up and walking out of the room.
As he should.

Man, stop living in the past. Harbaugh's gone whether you like it or not. His offenses were putrid. He served his purpose and now it's time to move on.
