And why would Jed allow him to leave based on all the crappy seasons we had before harbs got here. This really makes no sense at all to me. All teams have down years and this team is probably exhausted from all the extra games plus every team we play is playing like it's their Super Bowl. Also super bowl 50 is at Levi's so you know jed wants this one.

Because the offense is kaput and management doesn't have faith that it can be reassembled with the current coaching staff. Simple as that.

If this is a fact then so be it, but I've seen this story play out and things don't get better for a very long time. I may be bias towards harbs, but I've talked with fans of other teams and there's isn't a better coach available. I have faith harbs can fix this in one offseason. I've seen him do it.
I'm on record for keeping Harbaugh. If we let him go his replacement has to be better than him. I can't think of any head coach who is better and is available.

Harbaugh needs to look within his family and do what his brother John did -- get rid of the offensive coordinator because things aren't working out. Roman's slow to adjust and his offensive scheme isn't effective. This team needs a new OC.

and has won as many superbowls as the raiders in that time

Wow...

I know, it's crazy

Problem is Harbaugh doesn't appear to be too receptive of anything management has to say. I'm sure he's been approached about changes that need to be made, and he's more or less told Baalke and York to piss off. There's a reason the relationship is dysfunctional. He's a control freak and doesn't want other people controlling his offense. These guys are not working well with each other.

But like you, I still hold out hope these guys see the light and realize they need each other. Harbaugh is the best coach available for the job, and the 49ers are the best team available for Harbaugh to coach. I got my eye on Marc Trestman. Him and Harbaugh go back to their days with the Raiders. Wouldn't mind seeing Trestman brought in as a passing game coordinator., but this is highly unlikely. Looks like we're headed for a bad breakup.
He has made his bed with the promotion of Kap and he will lie in his bed in kaps failure. Given the roster talent more is expected than 7-9 or 8-8 season. This is a what have you done for me lately type of league. His decision to take a quarterback playing at career high level and benching him will always be questioned because of the lack of success. Couple this with the teams regression and the rise of the other teams in the nfc west and he will likely be fired this season. Harbaughs lack of change has allowed other teams to catch up and pass the niners.

See my comments 7 posts above. This is really the key here. Whether Jim Harbaugh stays or not has a lot to do with what type of OC would be hired to replace Roman. Baalke will not allow the new OC to be a Greg Roman replica ie a puppet that will simply carry on with Jim Harbaughs vision of what an offense should look like. Not going to happen!!!!!!!!!!!!

This team was built on defense and special teams. Offense was complimentary. This year the defense played way above themselves based on personnel and special teams were terrible. We lost the intimidation factor, but I'm confident once our guys are back we'll be right back where we once were. Management needs to swallow their pride and keep harbs.

It's actually Harbaugh that needs to swallow his pride. Remember, he's the one with the reputation of being tough to deal with. It's been speculated since he took the job that he would probably wear out his welcome after a few years, and sure enough, that's what's happened.

It would be irresponsible and negligent for management to not demand changes from Harbaugh. His offense is shockingly bad, and the entire unit has regressed. To make matters worse, he won't work with Baalke to fix it. It's his way or the high way, and I don't know of one situation where that's been successful for the long term. The HC and FO have to be in lock step.

It looks as though many of you have made up your minds that harbs is the problem. I have a feeling you all will have your way. Let's remember this ownership has way more bad decisions than good ones, and they're about to blow up a great thing. Harbs has a relationship with these players and he's not going to be easily replaced. Keep jim

I'm a Warriors fan. I heard the same EXACT argument when they fired Mark Jackson. Players love him, he has a winning record, will be tough to replace...and on and on and on.

No denying Harbs is a very good coach, but look at where this team is at currently. The offense has plummeted to the depths of teams like the Jags, Raiders, and Jets. That's his area of expertise, and he's responsible for the performance of the team. His approach is deeply flawed. Our players love him, but even they have voiced their concerns over the scheme, and opponents have gloated about how easy it is to get a read on what we're doing. Is that not concerning to you?

Normally, a coach with his record would be given a pass with the condition that the necessary changes are made. It's obvious Harbaugh is not willing to work with management to accomplish these changes. If he were, he wouldn't be on the way out.

Baalke and York are not stupid. They like winning, and they're not going to get rid of a winning coach if the situation can be salvaged. I don't care if it's pro sports or any other kind of business...EVERYONE in the building needs to be on the same page. If an employee goes rogue and tries operate away from his fellow co-workers, he's got to go, period. You'll never sustain success that way.

Nice post Sofa. It's like a boxer who has one really good punch. Just a matter before he's exposed. The boxer needs to develop his other hand or he'll be limited. Sure wish Brother John would call Jim and talk some sense into him.
We've all witnessed what this team was like without harbs. I don't see how any of us can have faith in Jed and Trent. Yes they hired harbs, but outside of that it's been horrible. I also don't see a Steve Kerr type out there to replace him with.

And the sad part is that all of this can easily be avoided. Jim can't take things personally. Baalke is the boss. He gets paid to supervise and make improvements. He's just doing his job and he's trying to improve the team. Harbaugh needs to realize this, give some ground and compromise.

The money will be there. He gets to retain his job, continue to live in his house, continue to coach a team that I'm sure he loves. Just one little bend and it's all yours Jim!!!!!!!!!!
