Good analogy lol. Somehow the Cowboys were able to make it work with Callahan despite all their dysfunction. It's something that could be on the table, but highly unlikely to happen.

I expect big coaching changes, but I still like Harbaugh. Still think he's a quality coach. I just wish he would see the light, fire Roman, and be willing to work with management to fix this.

He's stubborn and doesn't like anyone telling him what to do with his offense. He'd rather leave the job than admit his offense is terrible and bring in a passing game coordinator to fix it. It's a shame.

I can't believe people are calling for the likes of Marty Morniwheg, who went 5-27 in Detroit. Granted his GM was Matt Millen, the worst GM in human history, but he never was a HC again after that debacle. His glory days as Mooch's OC are long gone. He's scraping by as OC for the putrid Jets, working for Rex Ryan, not an exactly an offensive genius. How is a retread OC going have the leadership of a Harbs and lead this team over the top? It would be as bad as the Trestman hire in CHI, another ex-9er OC way overmatched as an HC. Ask a Bears fan about Trestman. Ask a Jets fan about MM.

This situation is sickening. Great coaches are rare. We are likely facing another miserable era of Ericksons, Nolans and Singletaries because the odds of finding back to back excellent coaches is as rare as going from Manning to Luck or Montana to Young at your QB.

If I was Jed York, I make Baalke and Harbs work together, none of this zero communication, petty jealousy BS. Demote Roman as suggested earlier. Get real QB competition, a 2-4 round pick and a veteran to compete in camp..

I'm afraid though they did try to push these types of ideas and maybe Harbs isn't bending. We'll see. But remember, sometimes you never know what you've goy until it is gone and as angry as Roman's slowly delivered, needlessly complicated gimmick offense makes us all, 3 out of 4 NFC title games in a row is a rare accomplishment.

I can't believe some people still want Holmgren. This dude hasn't been relevant in over a decade but hey, "ZOMGWTFWCOBBQ" and all that jazz.

......Ditto that for Jon Gruden.

Your looking backwards. if you look forward you see a thelma and louise moment. Harbs put all jis chips on kap then didnt grow him right. You dont avoid weaknesses you work through them. In practice and games. Now hes too prideful to say i messed up. Whayever. Four years is jis shelf life amyway.

Who cares about football.

i agree.

Normally bringing back a coach who is so far removed from the game doesn't work.
Keep harbaugh, fire remainder of offensive staff. RE-tool offense and championship in 2016!

The public wil likely never know if Harbaugh refuses to change his offensive scheme. This whole scenario really only shakes out a couple ways...

-MGMT gives Harbaugh final year of contract - team retools, gets healthy
-MGMT wants harbaugh to stay but changes are needed - HArbaugh refuses to change QB or offensive staff - HARBAUGH FIRED
-MGMT fires Harbaugh

I think it is likely the second option, but the media is spinning it to place all blame on management. Both sides are at fault in this whole situation.

I don't know of anyone that has asked for Marty Morniwheg as HC. As an OC he may do ok. Can't do much worse than the puke put out by Roman.

Yes finding another great coach will be difficult. Generally the greats hang on to their jobs.

I'm fairly confident that York & Baalke would have had many meetings about the offensive ineptitude, however it is Harbaugh's ultimate decision who is on his coaching staff. Same as the QB postion. If Harbaugh backs down, to him it's a sign of weakness and that he was wrong. I don't think Harbaugh will ever back down.

Why wouldn't Harbs bend? He was quick to the trigger in demoting Alex Smith ipo Kapernikus.

Wow...
This whole thing is absurd to me. Why would harbs leave for another nfl job when this is the best roster available. And why would Jed allow him to leave based on all the crappy seasons we had before harbs got here. This really makes no sense at all to me. All teams have down years and this team is probably exhausted from all the extra games plus every team we play is playing like it's their Super Bowl. Also super bowl 50 is at Levi's so you know jed wants this one.

You have to understand that they won't ask Jim to bend. They'll ask Jim to break as in break all ties to his offense. Big difference.

There probably will be a conversation at the end of the season. My guess is that it will be very detailed. Baalke will lay down the things he'll want to see changed it will be a rather long laundry list. Roman is out, that's a given. But more importantly, Baalke will ask Harbaugh how he plans on fixing key elements. It will come up!

One of two scenarios will play out. If they agree to replace Roman with a new Harbaugh approved OC then there is a chance Jim stays as long as the money is adequate. This would be the bend approach. But I think Baalke is so upset, this offer will not be put on the table. Instead Jim will be given the opportunity to stay as long as the new OC is Baalke approved. This is the break approach.

Harbaugh won't have it and they'll agree it's time for Jim to leave the team.
