And yes, to the bold

Also, I know some people in here aren't down with Holmgren because they think he's out dated "dinosaur" or whatever, but I don't think he's dumb enough to believe his old style would be good against defenses of today... I'm sure he would adapt, he probably already has a bunch of new ideas and what not. I wouldn't doubt the old clever fox (or elephant for that matter)

Actually the concepts he has ran forever still work today. He would need the package them differently. A little more spread and gun looks than in the past.

Hey what's up? It's the numbers guy

Yeah, it wouldn't be surprising to see him get right to that (I could be wrong, I usually am). As long as he just HC and not mettle with Baalke's duties, it could work. But then again, could those egos get along more than clash...

NOOO not billick

holmgren and gruden yes, with a caveat that they would not have any GM power.

Why not?

I think he's liked around the media... they'll be kissing his butt and referees might warm up to him (it helps cheated petey)

Plus, if you can win a SB with Dilfer, man that says something. I know the defense was awesome, but still I think he'd do well. No?

Just like Harbaugh, Billick was brought in for offense and his always sucked in Baltimore. Yeah they won a SB with probably the best defense ever, but Billick aint gonna get that again.

Oh yeah let me be clear, I'd only entertain the possibility of Holmgren as HC only, no GM role. That's Baalke's baby

Are they close / fond of each other (Holmgren and Baalke)??

No clue, Baalke is a parcells guy so it's probably a long shot tbh. Just entertaining the possiblity. It will probably be one of the younger OC's who wouldn't want total control.

Oh yeah (It's Parcells that Baalke likes) that's right. Man, I don't think Baalke and Holmgren would mash (might bump d*ck heads)

I'd like to get Holmgren, I don't think he'll use a dinosaur playbook like everyone on here is saying, he's a bright guy. His offense can't be any worse than Harbaugh/Roman's.

Only problem is I think Holmgren wants TOTAL control which is completely out of the question.
Is Kyle Shannahan capable of being a HC?

I've heard commentators on TV say he created the RGIII offense for his first season and got great results.
I don't know if I'm alone on this, but how about Mark Helfrich? He's worked with mariota for two years and he's in the running for the Heisman. I think Kap and Mariota have a lot of things in common (I.E. athleticism, arm strength, measurable) and that if given the chance with Helfrich, could flourish and become the Kap we saw in 2013 on a consistent basis.

Our defense was good enough to get us there. I really think it can get better next year (guys will be healthy, rookies in 2nd yr, free agency/draft).

The only guys on offense that really made and impact (IMO) were Lewis (RB) and Sharpe (TE). They also had a beefy and very good Oline. As far as talent, he would have more with the 49ers and I'm sure he would get that Oline up to where it needs to be.

Yeah, I don't see why he would just be stuck and not adapt to the offenses / defenses of today. He and Baalke might clash doe

He'd be older than McVay when he agreed to be HOFO and might be ready to take a consultant type job, or a HC job without the extra work of GM. Might even be fun for him...he could quit anytime Baalke gave him a bad time..."Well, thanks kid...good luck finding a coach by tomorrow's game." He's old enough to mean it.

The overhaul of personnel for the WCO might be rather daunting.

Interesting. That was RG3s best year and worked out pretty damn well till the injury against the Cawks.

I wish Scott Frost was our OC at the moment. He tells great jokes and our offense is a joke right now

After reading this, something came to mind... this guy is bold enough to do just that. Not to mention, Baalke's death stare wouldn't intimidate Holmgren. In fact, it would piss him off and he'd probably sit on Baalke's skinny butt. Then, he would bully Jed's young buck ass, too... next thing ya know, he'd bully the Yorks into giving him whatever he wants.

That's when Eddie D would step in... Holmgren bows / kneels before him, "my lord, to what honor do I owe the pleasure of your presence"

I think if Gruden was offered the job he'd take it.
Frost seems like a sharp guy. I love the offense he runs. He's not as young as you think. He's got a great resume. Although it doesn't hurt to plug into the Chip Kelley system and have Mariotta as the QB. But Frost is exactly the kind of new blood I'd like to see with the Niners. If Frost made the jump, OC would be the step to take before moving up a HC slot somewhere in a few years. I'd like for the Niners to think out of the box if Roman gets pushed out. But I doubt JH will be willing to take that radical a step. If JH is not the HC next year, and the Niners promote a guy already on staff to be HC, then I would definitely roll the dice on a guy like Frost.

But in JH stays, and even in the unlikely event that he agrees to replace Roman, I have a feeling he'll do so on the condition that someone like Cam Cameron comes here (they go back) to run the offense. Not sure how I feel about that. I think the team needs to move forward, not look back.

Cam Cameron? The guy his brother fired in there SB year.
Oh, I'm not advocating for someone like Cameron. I'm just guessing based on JH's history of being conservative and liking to work with people he's close to. How else to explain his devotion to Roman?

Cameron is a friend of Harbaugh's and knows his scheme. If you keep JH and he stubbornly wants to keep the offense as is, Cameron would be an upgrade to Roman...but it wouldn't be my first choice!
