unlike last year at this time, the smith brothers are healthy so am puzzled by lack of pass rush here. we all hear how aldon plays well at crunch time, under the lights, whatever, well this sunday is crunch time and he can not play the role of the invisible man. if we get no pass rush, we may lose but at the same time i know we can score right with green bay( if roman does not f**k it all up). knowing our team we will have to make a key stop or get a turnover late to preserve a close win and we will settle for alls well that ends well (which is ok in the playoffs just as long as you win)

I don't know why Fangio is so stubborn and insists on consistently using his four man front which has gotten torched the last few games. He's either that dumb or that stubborn ... which is it? Maybe he doesn't know how to implement an effective pass rush? Or maybe it's too much work.
His four man front has worked in the past but now that teams have learned how to protect against it, he needs to work on implementing other schemes. Maybe he has gotten lazy and doesn't want to trouble himself with coming up with something new.

It seems like every time they have blitzed the past two games, something good to great happened. Maybe it is from the sheer shock value of having never seen it before from the 49ers

And we won the game so all of the hand wringing is wonderful but SF 49ers won the game. I don't see Carolina complaining that they won by one point but they won. We won the game in hostile territory against a team that just beat Seattle on their home field. Arizona is a good team and we beat them. So I am happy and will take 4 more sloppy wins if at all possible.

I'm much more concerned about the pass rush which is likely a contributing factor in our secondary getting torched the last two weeks. I thought after the mostly horrendous performance from our defense Monday night, Fangio would make more necessary adjustments but in typical Fangio fashion, he doesn't change a damn thing and trots out more of the same - mostly four man fronts, minimal blitzing, and playing our CBs way too far off the WRs giving them a nice big cushion.
Surprise, same results as last week - even behind bad lines, there was little to no pressure or rush as Matt Ryan and Carson Palmer had all day to throw; a grand total of two sacks in two weeks is flat out pathetic and won't get it done in the playoffs. Aldon might as well still be in rehab since he's been invisible.
Hopefully we see some changes by next Sunday because if they keep it up at this pace, I fear what even a rusty Rodgers will do to them. It won't be pretty.

agree but you have to admit,, we just can not allow rogers to set back there and make himself a sandwich before completing a pass

I'm hoping Fangio has some things up his sleeve regarding the pass rush that he didn't want to reveal the last couple weeks because it's obvious that an elite QB will pick you apart if he gets enough time to read the defense. IMO the pass rush will have a few wrinkles to get the QB on the ground in the playoffs.

This TEAM will step it up a notch in the postseason. We've been here before, we know exactly what's at stake.

When you have a lead and te other team is just throwing the ball you'll give up some yards. Not too worried

49ers don't normally allow 400 yards passing... but when they do, they still win.

Any pass D will look mediocre without a pass rush! God I wish Tank ,Dial, or Lemon were a factor this year. We need to get creative with generating hits and pressures or there is no telling how many yards Rodgers , Wilson , Manning may put up. Seymour coulda been nice

I think as long as we can shut down the side line throw and keep the clock movin on defense we'll win by 3
