Thank you Lamont for reminding us ...about DBs that looked awful towards end of season. If mangini is a DB coach or has skills associated with DBs coaching, heck yeah, bring him in. For whatever reason(maybe reporting bellicheat...which actually was a good thing to do) I never much cared for him. Then saw him a lot this yr on ESPN as an analyst, and i was impressed. He did great jobs of breaking down broken down plays, and i realized that the guy does know his football.

Having a good defensive mind, focusing on preparing the offense for various defensive schemes is always a nice asset.
Additionally, him and Seely have a history, having worked together in NE, with Seely having been on Mangini's staff in Cleveland.

Think about it... Harbaugh wants a consultant for the offensive side because it would be too time intensive for Fangio to go in on offensive meetings to help them out. Fangio can focus on defense, and Mangini can be in on the offensive meetings lending his expertise.

This... You guys seem to be reacting like he is taking Harbaugh's job. If we brought in Norv as an offensive consultant would you have issues since he has sucked at every HCing job he has had. Mangini has a skill set and Harbaugh is interested in investing in it. Simple as that.

This. Mangini has proven that he's not head coach material....beyond that, he's a very good position coach and has terrific football mind. As a bonus, if he ends up with a permanent position on the staff, you don't have to worry about him running off and taking a head coaching position somewhere after his disasters in New York and Cleveland.
