Why would you cut/replace a guy who creates match-up problems from so many position on the field? Dwalk needs to be kept at all cost IMHO. He kind of makes this offense run to a degree.

Not to mention Walker is a free agent after this season. Walker In 15 Games last Year 19 Receptions 198 yards 3 Touchdowns Colby Fleener stats 2011 34 Receptions 667 Yards 10 Touchdowns
Lol @ you comparing stats from College to NFL

No......lol............not if you can cover Walker with a single safety which would be tough to do to Fleener and damn near impossible with VD.
I just don't understand how his blocking ability has all of a sudden improved when his entire time here, he was always our weakest blocking TE. I feel his blocking ability has more to do with ability to comprehend the system more than his physical ability.
He was a WR coming into the NFL and a very weak blocker as a TE. So weak that we had to use our best receiving target to stay in and be most responsible for blocking in Vernon.
Delanie is easily replaceable.
If you can cover him with a single safety, then yes, throw it to him.
The only time I recall Davis taking on a larger role in blocking was under Martz. It was widely reported (don't have a link, but I do recall reading about it on the zone newsfeed) how Martz doesn't utilize TEs as receivers very often. But why blame the horrible OL play on Walker specifically?

If we draft a TE, it will be in later rounds, if only for the fact TE is not a glaring need.
If we draft Fleener, I hope he does as well as everyone says he will, but HONESTLY, do we really NEED him? I don't think so. With our upgraded receiver core, we could wait one more year to worry about TE. Hopefully with Byham back, Walker can be used as a receiver and he will have a stellar year. There's going to be ridiculous open field opportunities underneath this year, and I want to see how he does.
If you replace Norris with Fleener, I have no issue what so ever, I think his roster spot can be made up for grabs. So can Ginn, even Williams if you want to keep Ginn on the roster.
What the hell are you basing this off of? The guy is average at best, he went half the season without a catch and can't get separation against defensive backs......... but I do agree that he'd make for a damn good #3 TE in this offense.
I'm basing that on our coaches ability to game plan to opposing teams weaknesses and their ability to utilize their players accordingly.
The Giants game shows how he can be a receiving threat. IIRC, the reason he had such a great game was because the Giants game planned to shut down Gore... We were without receivers... Now picture that, but defenses having to shut down Gore, Moss, Davis, Crabtree, Manningham and Walker. We're gonna have to come up with new nickname for him. I like the combo of All-Done Smith and All-Day Walker.

Walker contributed to this team since 2006. But apparently it's nothing compared to what Fleener can do in the NFL before his first game.

If fleener is there, we take him. We DO NOT release or trade delanie. We then have:
3 TE set to run out of,
anyone of the 3 can play slot WR or be split out.
Delanie has fine hands and is good in RAC.
Draft fleener as one of the good hands guys and we have: Good hands and getting open are the two big things you need in a guy who catches passes.
vernon
delanie
moss
manningham
crbtre
fleener
Run whatever package you want,, but that is a nice set of guys to be throwing to. Additional benefit is being able to run or pass equally well out of a 3 TE set. Nobody is getting rid of delanie, and i want fleener....together with delanie, vernon, moss, mario, crabs. That is one helluva upgrade from last yr, plus it can make a great running formation. They can't all play together, but now from a 3 TE set, we can just as easily run...and run well....or pass.
Real question is will baalke and harbaugh go OG first? Zeitler, siliatou(sp?) I got no idea which way the wind blows on that one.

So did Moran Norris and any number of endless scrubs that this team had on the roster at the time. If you can upgrade, you do it, anyone who thinks a midget h-back is somehow more valuable than a 6'6" guy who play WR or TE, with great hands and an existing knowledge of the is out of their minds.
