Larry Grant did OK, but we would have beat Arizona, if P. Willis was in the game

We deserve to lose when were at the 5 yard line 1st and 10 and dont score. We lose becaue we miss the field goal and have the touchdown called back. Excuses are like a*****es and we all have them. I cant believe all the piehole thought process that comes out of the heads of the so called zoner nation. keep on reaching dude or dudette.. Im guessing the cold weather monday night will be the reason for the niners next loss.

somebody is mad
Everybody knows when Patrick Willis is in the game.. WR"s fear crossing the middle. RB's are scared as well but it shows that it didnt carry into the RB performacne since Wells was held to 30 yards...

However every team should be able to pull out wins without there certain start skill plays.. other players need to rally up behind them.. Greg Jennins GB's star WR is out but GB still will win without him and still pumbled the Raiders..

Ray Lewis, a guy the Ravens defense calls "their General" was out for the game against us and still held us to 6 points.. If our team wants to be great we need to overcome this stupid crap and stop with the excuses.. no more excuses only improvements... You dont learn something by making a excuse on why you failed, you learn it by improving on what you did wrong.

Larry Grant got exposed in the pass game. It's one of the many reasons why we lost. Dude needs to calm down before I sick you on him.

I think everyone knows why we lost.... did you see Aldon & Co's hands on their hips, this D is out of shape!

But really, yes really, relax... some like to talk about other parts of the game then Akers on pace to set the league record for field goal attempts... which isn't a good thing.

Why are people bashing on the OP. He makes a valid point. It's not an excuse. I'm not sure I agree because I really have not looked at the two plays he is talking about specifically.

Personally, I think its always dumb when everyone (including the OP) point out one or two reasons why their team lost after a game like Sunday. They lost because they scored 19 points and the other team scored 21 points and during 60 minutes of football, every play from scrimmage made a difference, some more than others.

More specifically, the Niners offense for various reason could have scored more TDs than FGs and probably won the game, but its foolish to dismiss the OPs opinion when its also true that if the Niners D doesn't give up 3 big plays, which lead to TDs, the Niners probably win the game as well.

And to defend the OP a bit....The offense not scoring TDs and kicking FGs and struggling at times is much more characteristic of the 2011 49ers than the defense giving up big plays. So, I think he/she makes a very valid point.

Make no mistake about it we missed Pat in a big way last game. Especially in the passing game where he controls much of the middle of the field.
We win the game if we converted one red zone opportunity to a td. Plain and simple.

The truth about Patrick Willis is that he is a very good player but his impact in games in minimal especially in a 3-4 defense in a passing league like the NFL has become. If the 49ers were truly trying to stop great offensive teams, they would consider trading Wills for Revis in the offseason, but that would NEVER happen due to the silly notion that players like Gore, Davis, and Willis cant be traded..IF Montana was traded Willis can and should be traded for the best cornerback since deion sanders.

Even if we were to trade Willis do you think the Jets would really give up Revis? Child Please

This

I'm sorry, but this is a bizarre and inaccurate topic. Grant had another solid game, and even Willis can be seen failing on a coverage.

If Ginn catches a perfectly thrown fade pass in the endzone?
If Ginn catches an accurate deep post pass down the field?
If Goldson plays with better discipline on 2 huge pass plays for TDs?
If Kendall Hunter makes that last minute desperate yet accurate throw to move the chains?
If Goodwin and Snyder play a lil better on a few pass plays?

All of these things, I'd buy... No, not buying the Willis/Grant aspect a bit.

I heard one of our "beat writers" say the same thing on KNBR yesterday morning and thought it was a bunch of crap. The five guys across the O-line are responsible for this loss

Revis contract after this current season will not make him the highest paid defensive player anymore, there will be contract issues.
since when does Willis play offense?

The 49er fanbase has truly overrated Willis true value to this team. He is a very good player but his impact on games is very little. The 49ers could sure use another OLB on the other side of Aldon Smith like jason pierre paul or Mario Williams... who is a free agent next year. Then, the secondary which is horrible needs a true shutdown corner. We need as a fanbase to stop overrating and overvaluing players just because they play for the 49ers.
