lol. stupid Alex always dropping passes too. i wish Alex would stop calling so many run plays in the Red Zone.

We all wish. The truth is, Vernon Davis is not even one of the top 5.

Of all the good blocking TEs in the league, Davis is the fastest. That is all we can really say about him. He has major flaws in his receiving skills. We are in love with what we WANT him to be and in so doing, we are overlooking the fact he is a very limited pass receiver.

bring back Jimmy Raye

I've looked a little further. Can't find the RZ TD numbers for individual players, just TD numbers. But it's telling.

2009 -- VD had 13 receiving TD, Morgan had 3, Hill had 2, and Crabtree had 2.

2010 -- VD had 7, Crabtree had 6, Morgan had 2, Ginn had 1

2011 -- VD 5, D. Walker 3, Williams 3, Crabtree 2, Morgan 1, Miller 1

The way I look at it, defense took noticed after 2009. They tried to take away VD. We went to Crabtree in 2010. Now they have taken away VD and Crabtree. The coaches weren't confidant in Morgan, with only 3-2 TD the last 2 years, to be that 3rd guy to pick up the slack at the start of the season so they went and got Edward. With both of them playing up to their abilities, they would have helped the passing offense tremendously. But both of those are pretty much injured. So we are trying to go to someone else instead.

I dont wanna give up on Braylon , he is a talented WR and has been battling injuries all year, I'm sure next year he will be much more effective

but as for right now we have to find a way to use him, he should be a dangerous weapon in the redzone if him and Alex can build a little chemistry....we need Braylon to take some pressure off Crabtree and Davis ......I can only imagine how good our offense would be if Morgan never would have got hurt

Why? Point blank, he sucks right now and has sucked all year. Why waste time with a guy who's showed nothing all year? At this time in the season rosters should be getting shorter, not longer. It's not like our offense has a lot of margin of error to begin with.

And it's not a chemistry thing. Braylon's just not getting open. And as an aside: let's all remember that this guy's on his third team in three years, and the other two didn't exactly break the bank to try and keep him.

It was a nice little gamble to sign him. It failed. The team needs to accept the failure and cut its losses. We're trying to win a championship.

Why? ..because we need playmakers on the field when we are in the redzone ...and it's not just his fault for the failures in the redzone, everyone has to take some of the blame for these failures ..and Braylons size could be used to attack the endzone, Davis and Crabtree should also be more productive in this area, but it's our biggest weakness and it needs to be fixed, granted Braylon has been hurt, but we shouldnt give up on him just yet, we cant single him for the teams failures and throw him under the bus ...and I wouldnt say he sucks, he is a talented WR , everyone has troubles when dealing with injuries ..but hopefully on monday we can get some contributions from all of our skill players ..we need everyone to chip in and make our offense more productive

Just don't see it. No one player is responsible for anything, but I think the line of thinking you're on is very flawed.

Braylon isn't a playmaker right now. He doesn't get open. Notice how everything to him seems to be back-shoulder stuff or fades? It's because he doesn't get open on any real route. Playing a one-dimensional guy like that (and it's hardly much of a dimension) is an anchor on an already bad red zone offense. Davis and Crabtree do need to be more productive inside the 20. But they are getting doubled a ton, because our other WR is not viewed as a threat. And yes he's been hurt ... for virtually the entire season. Since when do playoff bound teams in week 15 need to be worrying about working about working some guy back?

We all saw what one change on the OL (Snyder for Rachal) could do. Give Williams a few weeks of practice and play with the first string, for whole games. Let him and Smith build something up. We're going to the playoffs. We could win this thing. Let's act like it. Let's replace a failed experiment with one that has a chance of working.

If Williams is as quick as they say he is, he's the best separator among the WR corps. Crabtree, from what I've been hearing is an excellent route runner, a good one two punch.
Whilst the two are not comparable type players, I think I would rather right now that we started Crabtree and Williams.

I agree.

Still, my hope would be that a recovered BE by the playoffs could become that other options for fades and slants. He just needs a ton of practice time to shake the rust.
Look, Edwards is not going anywhere the next 6+ weeks or so.

I say we bench him the rest of the regular season to get healthy, and bring him full board in the playoffs.

If his problems really are injury related, then let's do what we can to make the best of it.
He's useless. You can't use a useless person or object

such a dumb post by Redgoldknight.

The "most gifted TE ever" really? He cant catch how is a TE with no hands gifted? The only thing he has is speed and size, hes gifted athletically but hes not "the most gifted TE ever". Really, Braylon had a great season last year? Since when is 900 yards considered great. I'd say thats very average for a #1 or even #2 WR.

FYI Vernon tied the record for most TDs by a TE with Alex Smith as his QB for the majority of the season. And our receivers lead the league in dropped passes.
Use Edwards? We've tried all season since his injury and all he has done is prevent our offense from being productive. Keep him on the bench.
Tommy Streeter sounds like the name of a bust

That 43 second video is just a short clip of why. 2 games into the season everyone was on this guys wagon.. he was the Go TO guy.. Injury happened and then there was alot of out of sync with Crabs/Smith and they have gotten that fixed for the most part and now Edwards is on the outs again

RB F Gore
WR Crabtree
WR Edwards
WR Williams
TE Vernon Davis

SEND THESE 5 Guys out to make a play, leave our 5 To block and let alex smith make some throws. There is no reason that we shouldnt be firing on all cylinders on this Offense.. Edwards has been depressed yes about how this season went down. This was his first injury of his career that has kept him out this period of a time... So im sure hes thinking about stats and #'s and is only thinking postseason/Next year.. but im sure if we get him 2 td's and some YD"s he will be fired up like he was at the begging of this season

Remember Braylon Edwards qoute ?? he said something along the lines of "Everything happens for a reason, the jets let me go and now im here, its for a reason" (:

If he would actually try to catch balls thrown to him maybe we would.
