Only non hit was R.Johnson, not a biggie for a 6th rd pick.

Don't forget Edwards
Sometimes the best moves are the ones you don't make-like not resigning Takeo, Franklin, etc. from our team, and not chasing after and overpaying for Nmandi A.
And yet most of you were mad when we weren't active at the beginning of free agency.

Or the players he drafted.

Arm chair gms
I think most people in here were upset in how he got the position and the promotion from within the FO of what at the time, had been a losing culture for years. this didnt sit well with alot of fans and what fans wanted to see was successful outside people coming in and changing it up. How York put up the big 'wanted' poster for a GM only to have the GM in waiting sitting in the next office.

I think he should be up for the award, it will be interesting to see how he drafts next year in being at the lower end of the draft.

He's done very well this year. In FA, draft and coaching hires. I don't see where you could fault him in 2011. Some lucky, some skill but he's done well regardless.

Can't get much better than that!

Thats the problem, what do fans really know? As I said, you can't blame the sins of the father on the son. You should judge the individual. When people say successful candidates, why are they out of the limelight. It cuts both ways Charley Casseley was successful then slid, so did others. If they are good they would be snapped up or continue on like Polian went from the Bills to the Colts. Sometimes old warhorses are out of touch. Even Walsh had it harder the second time and failed. Sometimes it is lucking out in finding the right combo.

Just as I said about Baalke's picks and signings, sometimes the best move is not to move or in this case make changes. The Harbaalke as some have like to nick name it is the perfect match. I just think some fans are too fickle at times because we live in the microwave world today. How many of these Johnny come lately fans would be patient with Walsh back then?

So how would one determine which decisions were "lucky" and which decisions were "skillful"?
I thought MadDog would be up for Executive of the Year.
We are VERY fortunate to have him.

He has to be in the top 2. When we make it to the NFC Chamionship - that should solidify the selection. When is the final voting?
He truly knows want hes doing glad hes with us

Impossible to tell, from a fan's perspective.

Results are all that matters. IMHO. Hard to argue with Baalke's results.

I think its just the beginning. He and Harbaugh can only get better with more experience.

It's pretty obvious those "sham" interviews Jed conducted in January were all about validating Baalke as a GM; ie those people may have convinced him he had a solid in-house candidate. Thank god Lombardi didn't get the job.
The executive of the year, signed the coach of the year to a five year contract this off-season.
