And he thought Jim Tomsula was a good head coach. I remember Jed comparing Tomsula to Steve Kerr in an interview (lol).

Chip Kelly was a good hire....in theory......if you gave him the players to run his offense. But even if Chip had great players at every position, I still think his ceiling in the NFL would be limited. His college offense was played out and the NFL figured him out already. Jed York and Baalke didn't do enough research as to why Chip flamed out in Philly. And now you can see that even UCLA is getting tired of Chip Kelly's shtick. He will probably get fired soon.

I will give credit where credit is due. Jed scored a home run with Lynch and Shanahan. But it has taken 3-4 years of misery to get to this point.

Much as it did with Eddie D.

Eddie D never hired a Tomsula or Kelly.

Joe Thomas, Ken Meyer, and Pete McCulley say

He hired Walsh after two years and then won a bunch of Super Bowls.

Finally found it! It was Gary Plummer who sited inside information:

"I'm going to drop a little bombshell on you right here," Plummer said. "I've heard that this hire was not the hire of Jed York. I heard that it came from a much higher source than Jed York and you might think to yourself, 'Woah, what's higher than Jed York?' How about Jed York's mother (Denise DeBartolo York)?
"I'm just telling you that's what I've heard and sources have said she has been embarrassed. Now, remember, this is a woman who grew up with her father (Edward J. DeBartolo, Sr.) owning the Pittsburgh Penguins and I think she loved hockey and she was involved in – I think they might have even won the Stanley Cup when they were there in terms of ownership. But seeing that and seeing her brother (Edward J. DeBartolo, Jr.) win championship after championship after championship, winning is in her blood."
It's not inconceivable to believe that Denise DeBartolo York, who is the principal owner of the 49ers, was in some way involved in the final decision to hire Lynch and Shanahan. What Plummer appears to be suggesting, according to what he has heard, is that Jed didn't have the final say.

Frankly, I trust what Lynch and Shanahan have said over some "insider" info of Gary Plummer. Jed York and Paraag Marathe were the ones in the interview room meeting with all the GM/HC candidates.

If Jed is gonna get the blame for his mistakes he should also get credit for his good moves. (People were more than willing to criticize Jed for hiring Lynch when they didn't like the hire).

After 8 years.

It is like comparing Kelly to Walsh.

I fully trust them as well, they are both intelligent individuals with great fore-site. Why would they throw their boss under the bus?

I just think you're looking for a conspiracy when there isn't one. Jed York made a couple good hires. Just deal with it.

And almost fired him multiple times, usually due to Carmen Policy calming Eddie down.

No, it's comparing Shanahan to Walsh.

Jed has hired 5 coaches. He's 2/5.

Eddie hired 5 coaches. He was 3/5.

Nothing is ever a 1:1 perfect comparison, but both owners made bad hires before making a good hire. Unfortunately Jed had to go through the cycle twice, but it's a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately business. Right now Jed is on an upswing.

If there is a source then how is that a conspiracy? FYI, Lynch was handpicked by Shanahan, that was his hire:

Because the source is mediocre at best, and a lone outlier re: all the information we have from several other reliable sources.

And yes, they were good with Shanahan determining who he would be paired with at GM. That has nothing to do with Denise. It was Jed that was heavily preaching having the HC/GM be hired together and be in lockstep with each other.
