Best front 7 in football. Likely the best overall defense.

The only 3-4 team that has both its ILBs playing on all three downs. Speed kills.

Cowboys are up there, as well as Baltimore and still Pittsburgh. But yeah, the niners are definitely in the mix

Cossell... Lol. The dude lost a lot of respect from me when I started listening to him every Thursday on knbr. The guy didn't mention what his "film" showed on Alex smith when we played Philly. Didn't mention him against Tampa bay either. But here's what he said about Alex from the Detroit game.
He has the right to his opinion, but the guy has a weekly show. Last two weeks he says NOTHING about our qb and this is what he says after a game winning 4th qtr td? Word?
Quote:Here?s what they?re doing with Alex Smith, and he?s a great guy, so none of this is ever personal, but they?re playing the games to minimize his impact on the game. And they?re able to win games doing that, so more power to Harbaugh and the coaching staff. They?re doing absolutely the right thing. I?m reading a lot of people talk about now Alex Smith is proving?.Look. This is what they?re doing. They?re trying to hide him. They?re trying to minimize his impact on the game. And that?s great. Do you know what that?s called? Coaching.

I wouldnt laugh man, Cowboys have an amazing run defense this year. Last I checked, they were 3rd or 4th in the league.

Any D that Rob Ryan touches is usually pretty stout, even Cleveland had a pretty good D last year all things considered. Dallas stuffing our run wasn't a fluke, they are a solid defensive unit.

Cosell gives some pretty good input when he's being unbiased, he bashes Alex on a consistent basis tho which is understandable with Alex's track record the past 7 years, i just think he needs to give credit where credit is due instead of just bashing him even when he's playing well lol, other than that he's a pretty good read.

Good find - thanks!
As far as Cosell's remarks about hiding Alex - I think not. What I think JH is doing is slowly bringing him along and slowly improving him. JH is developing ASmith's strengths and confidence. Think about how bad he was last few years and how much better he is today. Is ASmith the long-term answer - I don't know.
What I do know is having 2 potential starters on the bench and learning like ARodgers did in GBay will help us for years to come. JH is a damn good coach.

I don't think he is "bashing" Smith. Cosell has been watching film for years and gives his unbiased analysis. He isn't thrilled from what he sees out of Smith on film, and he is right about the way JH gameplans with him. As Cosell says, that's called coaching and is the reason JH is the first coach to have success with Smith.
