f**k that I was and still am hype. I'm hype about the future of this team after getting a big win. Nobody is we won a super bowl hype.
If I wanted to be a downer, I'd talk about that ugly new stadium design and the fact that it's in Santa Clara!

Often wonder how fans like teams that they dont really like. Texas has 2 teams to choose from.
To address the concerns of the OP:

Yes, they beat a struggling team. It is a very talented struggling team, however, one that needed a win badly. And they won in their house(not the friendliest of confines, btw), and it was the second game of a two week, east coast road trip. Winning back to back road games is not easy in this league, more so for west coast teams going to the east coast. No, they did not win the Superbowl, but they did accomplish something that is difficult for good teams to do. It should be celebrated by the fans.

I get where your concern comes from. Overconfidence has lead more than a few rising teams to a loss. If I thought that the players really listened to the fans like us on the message boards, or that they listened to the media, I'd be really worried. But I don't think they are listening to us, or the media. Take for example the radio interview with Alex Smith I heard the other day(it's over on 49ers.com). Alex is saying the same things that Harbaugh is: keep working, get better everyday, don't look too far ahead. The interviewers even tried to bait him a little bit into discussing a more big picture discussion, playoff contender and individual awards stuff. Smith only allowed that winning the division was the goal, and then basically went back to talking about week-to-week preparation.

They're listening to their coach, and their coach is saying things like,"Keep working", "Better today than yesterday", and "Either getting better or getting worse, no one stays the same". My favorites were from the recent press conferences, when he said,"Don't talk good about us. I like it better when you talk about the struggling line and the conservative play calls", or,"My old head coach used to say, if someone's talking nice about you, kick 'em in the shins". That says to me that he's aware of the possibility of overconfidence leading to complacency, and he strikes me as the type of guy who addresses a problem before it's really a problem.

I guess my point is this: Relax, enjoy the win, and let Coach handle making sure that the team is prepared(both physically and mentally) for this weekends game.
Not sure what you are talking about? After the last 8 years of being a Niner fan, I feel like we just won the Superbowl!!!

2 wins in a row, on the road against non-division opponents that dont suck.....are you kidding me???!!! Hand me the Lumbardi right now....

It is a big deal because it gives the fans, players, coaches faith. A decent season will help with free agency getting the stadium built etc so again it is a big deal we have not accomplished sh*t for 6 years and for once there is feeling of hope again. Lets enjoy it for the week than move on. Later this year we will have some rough times and all of us will need to reflect on this game and remember that this is a team that can now compete in every game.
Nice analogy! haha.
Please Mods create a buzz kill of the week thread.....I'm super cereal...
I had us at 1-3 at this point, with back to back road losses, so I think the 3-1 record is one to celebrate. Now, are we a great team, or even a good team? I'm not sure. But 3-1 is 3-1, and in the NFC West, that is a substantial lead over divisional opponents.

Super Bowl? I don't think anyone is going that far. But, making the playoffs after ten years of futility would be a welcome moment. This team is far from a finished product, but at least is competitive...and winning.
How can you not be a little excited with what this team has already accomplished? Some of you guys seem broken, your team wins a big game that they were 9.5-10 point dogs in, and had just about every national sports media casting doubt and dispersion our direction, it is totally normal to be happy and excited. Too many goddamn pessimists around here sometimes. For the first time since the Hearst/Garcia/TO days, I feel we have a chance in every game we play in...I am reveling in the nostalgia of that as we speak. Some of you might be too young to remember feeling like this about the Niners, but it used to be a normal state of being for the Niner Faithful.
Considering how the team has played for about a decade, this was as close to the excitement of winning a superbowl as we've gotten in a while. Anybody doesn't like it can go be a Dolphin fan and sulk with them.

that was awesome
The game is something for the niners to build on and a reason for fans to hope and have faith after an 0-5 start last and a team that would have tanked and Singletary showing us his the planet Uranus. Harbaugh has been a cool cat so far, he shows his emotions, but doesn't throw the players under the bus, but yet is stern. Lets be happy and celebrate, but I get what the originator was posting-let's keep it real. There is room for improvement. Not taking anything away from the niners, but like I said phillies D ain't the greatest and we gave too much yards, luckily Andy reid has problems in the red zone this year as some analysts had pointed out what they should have done before the game, but luckily didn't. Thanks to some bone headed decisions and missed field goals that are normally considered gimmes.

However, there are things to build on. If the niners win at least one of two then they show they are on their way to better days, if they win both, then they are legitimate contenders, but if they lose both then its back to reality-just keepin' it real.
We didn't win the Superbowl, but we put an end to a "dream team"! Who's got it better than us?

Which is effectively what you just did... "If I [insert thing you're about to do], I would [insert doing that thing]..." I like the new stadium design, some negative people will find anything to complain about.

@ Madden footage of 9ers winnning SB - Alex was the SB MVP BABY!!! lol, Madden never lies.
