The reason the stick doesn't get loud is because we have some weak ass fans. everytime I stand up and get super loud on 3rd down on defense someone behind me will tell me to sit down. I don't listen to them though and I stay loud the whoe game. Evrytime I go to a game I lose my voice.
I hate the fans who cheer when we are on offense and in the huddle or at the line. Man, that annoys me.
Over the past 10 years, the demographics of 49er fans have changed dramatically. Prior to 2000 or so, the overwhelming majority of season ticket holders were WW2 vets and Baby Boomers. They were dyed-in-the-wool football fans, and very knowledgeable, and very civil in their behavior. There were occasional fights but nothing like in the past decade.
Now, as those people have gotten older and find the rigors of getting to their seats in the stadium too much for them, many of their seats have been taken over by younger fans who seem more interested in getting drunk than watching the game, the behavior has taken a turn for the worse. Though some of them are knowledgeable fans who know when to cheer and when to be quiet, it is my observation that they are far less knowledgeable than the people who sat around us in the '90s and before.
You BOTH have points that can't be denied or ignored. If we could get a nice balance of both it would be perfect. So much for that.
Let me tell you, what happened on Saturday night was not gang related. OF COURSE there were gangsters everywhere, they like football too. The problem is if I heckle a normal fan I'd get heckled back. Gangbangers don't have that tolerance in them. They're not going to sit and argue. They bite, they don't bark. What does this have to do with anything? We all know that any other home game is nothing like that. These fools don't show up to watch us play the Rams in the rain in December. Now they've messed it up for all of us. This does NOT represent how we act during games during the regular season at all, in fact I tend to agree with ninerfan4life most times. Not even when Dallas comes to town does it get this crazy....so let's analyze.
IMHO I'm blaming Oakland. I believe it was provoked. Look, I'm not stupid. I realize that if I were to gear up in some NY Giants and go to a Philly game, it would not be smart. I know there are altercations all over the country, etc, etc, etc. I get that. But since it was the night the gangsters took over, let's look at it like that. SF fans/tailgate has never been known as scary, intimidating, rowdy, none of that, right? Wine & cheese. Whiners. That's what we are labeled. Oh but Oakland? You better watch out! Are you insane to go there? Did you get beat up? Oakland Coliseum has a reputation because it earned it. The Raider "Nation" is just that because across the country, if you don't have a team and you think your a bad ass, you choose the "image". The Black Hole. Anybody down to go in the middle of that section in a 9ers jersey? No, cuz we're not crazy and the whole country knows what would happen. So its, the dark side. So scary. Accepted.
NOW. You get all this woofin from the scary Raider fans saying they're going to come take over the wine and cheese. Then the gangster SF fans, take it personally. Then you get Saturday night. So really I guess it was gang related. The 9ers gangsters vs the Raiders gangsters. But really, I get how the gangsters can get irritated. I'm just civil and know how to control my emotions. Raider fans take the mystique, the image that the Raider
players had in the 70's and personify it. How much can a fan base take? To know the Raiders are coming to your town means that you know the fans that will follow are ready to start something. I've been to SD. Nice Stadium. Cool fans. The usual heckling. But what happens when the Raiders are in town? Everybody is tense because of this image that's glorified. Crazy things happen in SD when Oak is in town. Denver? KC? It's one thing if your stadium is rowdy ,like some in the east, but no one is going to worry if a bus full of Eagles fans come in for a game. They may be loud but you won't automatically be on the defensive.
Whooo. Thanks for listening.

. Like i said, just my opinion. I hope everyone involved gets whats coming to them but I don't think we need to worry anymore. If we don't play Oakland, there won't be anyone there asking, "what you gonna do about it?" and this won't happen again. But now I can't eat after the game and have to sit in traffic. Thanks for messing it up for all of us.
