1) 89 was an amazing team with a "homegrown" feeling
2) 94 was an amazing team with an "added a bunch of allstars and SB or bust" feeling
I personally like Young over Montana just from personal interactions at fan events with both, but you can't go wrong with either team. But just the level of athleticism on the 94 team would probably beat the 89 team in terms of "best team ever."

I wish.... I HELLA WISH that those two teams played one another.
I know it's not possible, but still....

My Favorite....and by far the best team to win the SB...that 89 team would have crushed the 85 bears...

The first superbowl team 81 is like your first love, most memorable but not your best love.
The 84 beats all other teams, they stopped what was thought to be unstoppable-the dolphins and Dan Marino. The media even favored the phins and was saying things like can Montana and their offense keep up with Dan Marino. Totally dissing Ronnie Lott and company. Instead Lott and company said hello we can play D as they rocked Marino and company so hard, that with the exceptopn of Marino, they were all hearing footsteps of Lott.

The whole 1989 post season was amazing, but I've never seen a physical beat down, by any team, like the one the 89 team put on the Rams in the second half of the NFC Championship.
It was effing beautiful . . . .

in order gotta go:
1. 81 - it ALL started here
2. 89 - all pistons firing and ultimate peak of the greatest qb's career
3. 94 - pinnacle of the franchise's organization, system, and personnel
4. 84 - prototypical rb and all-pro secondary, walsh's system becomes a legitimate nightmare
5. 88 - just simply an incredible sb comeback drive!
