Greeting from Noob-land! I didn't see a similar topic listed in the forum so since I had share some thoughts on the subject. In regards to the upcoming season, I don't have very high expectations. Let's look at some of the challenges this team and coaching staff face in 2011. No established Quarterback. Not only do we not have a quarterback of any worth on the roster but the league as a whole is pretty slim pickings. I believe JH takes a quarterback somewhere in the draft but thats going to be a multi-year project. So anyone we pick up through free agency/trade is simply going to keep the seat warm for someone better. New Offensive System. If you've been paying attention the last 6 seasons, you'll know how difficult it is for a team to implement the language and schemes associated with running an NFL Offense. And to do it soooo many times must be wearing down players. But as I noted in a different thread, having JH be the de facto OC finally bring stability to the offense. One more time guys! CBA. The Collective Bargaining Agreement (or lack thereof) is definitely going to affect our ability to bring it all together in a timely manner. We just don't yet know to what degree. This one's completely out of the organizations hands. There are probably other challenges, I'm just not coming up with any right now. So when all is said and done and we start the 2011 regular season, I predict a very rough start. What happens over those 16 (or possibly 18) games will be the tell-all. There needs to be progress and not the phony BS that we see at the end each season when there's nothing left to play for. I mean development! Development for 2012. That my friends, is when things are going to get very interesting. Please let me know you thoughts.

At this point and time 4-12... no qb at all and a new system. Low expectations are easier on the heart.

We still have a talented team. It's not like were flushing everybody out. We've learned a new offensive system the last 6 years, and we've finished with 6+ wins. Our defense is going to be ok. 7-9 or better would be my expectations.

Not sure how people can expect anything higher than 8-8. Odds are this team isn't going to shift from 3-yard and a cloud of dust, to complicated West Coast offense just like that.

You do realize this is the NFL? How often do teams turn things around dramatically in just one year? I am thinking it will not be that hard to even reach the playoffs with a winning record if we get the right QB.

If the CBA isn't signed until August or July, I give the Niners a slim chance of doing well next year. I am looking more forward to 2012.

I expect us to be 9-7.

If we were 6-10 with Singletary, with 4 losses by 3 or less points, we will definitely be much better with a good coach like harbaugh next year.

I expect us to have some problems early on, but this si why harbaugh is getting all his coaches right now. I believe he is really trying to get an early start to get his players ready..

Honestly I'm expecting the playoffs... considering just how weak the division was this season, if we had better coaching we could have won 2 more games and taken it home at 8-8. Regardless of the QB situation at this point I have a lot of faith in Harbaugh, I'm expecting 9-7 and the NFC west

With CBA being a joker it looks like a two year transition to a decent team. 6-10 or 7-9 next year and then 8-8 or 9-7 the next. If all goes well during those transition years, including finding a QB and the OLine coming together then the playoffs and 10-6 or better in year three. If it happens faster great.

Worst case, no CBA, no OTAs, and no training camp. 2011 offense>2010 offense, 2011 defense> 2010 defense, and 2011 special teams> then 2010 special teams.

1978 2&12 record and BAD football on all fronts. 1979 Bill Walsh's first year, 2&12 record, but exciting football and total turn around. 1980 6&10 and exciting football, and you could see things changing big time. 1981 SUPER BOWL!!!

2011, 49ers play better football on all fronts!!!..........
