Quick someone... how many HOF players have been sucessful coaches? ... Dick LeBeau just went in the HOF, Mike Ditka, Art Shell... those are the only 3 I can think of who even coached, oh and of course Mike Singletary...

He's the only assistant coach I aboslutely NEEDED to see gone this year, so this is a great start to the offseason!

About f**king time.

I was all hyped about him in 2005. Was hoping he could fix Rashaun Woods.

I fell off that bandwagon pretty fast.

I bet he got an ultimatum. Retire or fired.

That would be awesome.

I think Singletary's nephew Vance (nepotism) and Al Harris our exceptional pass rush specialist needed to go also...Im still not sure how Mike Solari still has a job after our OL has performed this season.

Well of those 3, all 3 did pretty well as POSITION coaches, which is exactly what Rice would be. If Rice is good at teaching technique, other nuances of the pro game, and turning our group into a more intelligent squad that aggressively attacks the football instead of waiting for the ball to come to them, I'm all for it.

I think it's beyond time for a new WR coach...WRT to Rice, great players don't necessarily make good coaches. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have #80 back with the Niners, just sayin'. There are a lot of good WR coaches out there...if we hire Harbaugh, Billick or Morningweh, we're assured of getting a good one.
