I want them to franchise lawson also but with gore being 28 soon and coming off a big injury, its hard to see him being around next year.. Hopefully we keep him, but if we can get some draft picks for him that would be great. With our offensive line starting to gel we definitely need BASS the BOSS!

You're kidding right? You have a hard time seeing the focal point of our offense (and the only thing that's kept any type of hope for this team alive) on our team next year?

Hes been the "Bellcow" of our offense. Clinton Portis was just the same in denver, and his first few years in washington. I would love to keep Gore, as long as we have someone great to develop "LeMichael James or Ingram" as his replacement.

Okay? What kind of evidence is that that he won't be back? And he is signed through 2011.

And why is LaMichael James or Ingram in quotes?!

Thats who the niners need to draft this year. We dont need to chance ourselves at anothe Qb unless its Luck. Im saying if the front office was smart, they would look into getting a replacement now while our other core players are young, that way we can take the load off of him while still keeping his productivity

Yeah, why take a shot at the most important position. I'm pretty sure there's a couple other backup QB's we can put in for 4 weeks at a time.

These are the players I really dont see us signing or keeping. Its a shame these guys have worked their butts off for us but there is definitley going to be teams willing to overspend on our guys and force us into rebuild mode

Alex Smith
Frank Gore- This one is going to be tough on all of us..
Ted Ginn
Brian Westbrook- Sing made him promises he couldnt fulfill
David Carr- What a waste of 3 million..
Troy Smith- Hes gonna find a gig somewhere now.
David Bass- Free agent markets going to be looking for decent centers.
Aubrayo Franklin- Hes gotten steadily better through the year, i dont see us wasting our tag on him again.
Manny Lawson- Right when he starts to develop his contract ends, he will be paid somewhere.
Takeo Spikes- It was a good three years.
Nate Clements- The money stops pouring down to him.
Dashon Goldson- He still wants the money and hasnt shown he deserves it.

After losing such great players, i dont see us coming close to contention for a good 3 years... Thoughts?

of all these people listed there are 2 that are surely staying put...the 1st. F.Gore. why? #1 his contract isnt up #2 umm...release f.gore outright? unless he cant recover, which bouncing back is something he's made a career of, his release just isnt gonna happen.....the other player listed not going anywhere is N.Clements, we'd be eating way too much salary in releasing him and getting absolutely NOTHING for it, in fact we'd end up paying him to play for another team...

as far as everyone else on the list, i'd categorize every last one of them as expendable...thats not to say i wouldnt keep a few, but i AM saying that i dont consider a single one of these guys as a real loss if in fact we lose them... not a single one of these guys is creme of the crop/at the top of their game..

guess idk why, with the output we've seen, that some of these guys would be considered losses

Why do you want Gore gone? He'll still be only 28 when the season starts and plus he's still under contract.

I agree. It's going to be very difficult to duplicate the incredable run we've had. 4-7 is not something to be taken lightly.

I don't see us losin that many guys. We have a pretty good core of guys under contract and to let go of any of those guys would really set us back. A good QB alone gets us to the playoffs with this team as it is (with all its flaws). To lose these guys at this point starts a rebuilding process that is not necessary. We need a quality front office, quality coaching, and a quality QB, not a restart. And a strong front office would see that we are not that far away talent wise from being a team that could be a competitive 8-8 to 11-5 team.
After losing such great players? The Niners have a very small core of good to great players. There are a ton of marginal players that this team can afford to lose. I would try to keep Baas, Lawson, Ginn, and Gore. Spikes and T. Smith are on the bubble. The rest can go.
We will see...
We lost our swagger when Steve-O went down in '98.
We lost our West Coast Offense when Erickson took over in 2003.
We lost our talent when T.O. and Garcia left in 2004.
We lost our identity when Nolan took over in 2005.

IF we don't get "change we can believe in" this off-season the future could look something like this:

We lost patience in 2010.
We lost hope in 2011.
We lost interest in 2012.

We need some winners, we need players who know how to win. These current players no nothing about winning because all they have known is losing.

Isn't Gore till 2012? They'll sign the s**t out of him if he isn't.
Sign Ginn to an extension.

Possibly Baas.

See ya later everyone else!

Fractured hip, bum knees, bum ankles, he's goin' to the glue factory after next season.
