We have no business being included in the playoffs at all and definitely not - with a losing 7-9 record.
I don't want us making the NFL playoffs on an Affirmative Action quota. No Division Left Behind.

WoW

you might get tagged for that !

Winning every game we play. Period. We could be 1-11 and what I would care about most is wining on Sunday.

Playoffs? Did anyone hear Brian Billick discussing the possibility that if a losing team makes the playoffs the NFL would look at making a change in the format? He asked why any team with a winning record should stay home while a 7-9 team plays. Do you all really want a change called the "49er Rule" as our legacy?

i guess i would prefer the embarrassment of losing in the playoffs, rather than being projected to make the playoffs and not come close.....
I look at it a different way, why barely make the playoffs with .500 or losing record only to get booted out in the Wildcard game? I don't see us getting hot and having a winning streak like the Cards did two years ago with a 9-7 record and making the SB. I've been a fan of this team forever and with that...I don't think we have what it takes to make it deep into playoff or even win the division.
So, I voted for Singletary getting pink slip. Thanks for trying, but being a good motivator wasn't good enough to get the job done.

Our legacy is beyond reproach. We may have suckage right now, but our legacy of 5 trophies and amazing HOF players will always eclipse any of the negatives of today.
What would be more of a joke and travesty would be for the league and its fans to point and say,
"hey look, the Niners are just laying down to be beaten like rented mules.... they are quitters."

Honestly, I care more for the big picture. It would be a disaster if we made the playoffs because then they would have nothing to change. The very foundation of this team we thought to be stable and its not. Alex is great, but not the answer, neither is singletary. We need help, we need leadership, we need talent. Until those are equal I don't see us ever being consistently sucessful. That's what I care about...I love this team and always hope we can find a way back to the top.

Same. The playoffs pipe dream fell for me when we started 0-3. At that point, I began thinking towards possible HC candidates.

Laughable, that 25% voted play-offs. Like there is even an outside chance.

Alex and Singletary are dead men walking. I stopped worrying about them after the Carolina game . . . and we have no business being in the playoffs.
Draft position is the only remaining issue to settle . . . but I can't root against my team so I'm completely indifferent at this point. Wake me up on January 4th and tell me where we're drafting.

Because you want to win every game. And I wouldn't guaranty we lose in the Wildcard game, especially if we go in playing well and it's against the Saints or Giants. I wouldn't bet money that we win, but it's possible.

That's the only option that included winning games.
Also: There is more than an outside chance.

Winning. I'm most concerned about winning.
Now, one more loss and mathematical elimination, and my primary objective would shift to player evaluation. Get some game film on younger guys, so that the next coaching staff has a better idea of what they are inheriting.
One more loss, and who are those young guys, who need more film for evaluation?
QB Nate Davis (ilo A. Smith, Carr and T. Smith)
RB Dixon (ilo Westbrook)
OT Boone (ilo Sims)
NT Jean-Francois (ilo Franklin)
OLB Brooks (ilo some Lawson PT)
MLB Bowman (ilo some Spikes PT)
CB Adams (ilo some Brown and James PT)
FS Mays (ilo Goldson)
