Surprise trade: Frank Gore.

It seems likely that we're moving to an offensive-minded HC, and unless we hire Norv Turner/Billick, I do not see Frank sticking around. Mainly because he's toxic to the locker-room when he's not getting the ball enough, was a Nolan/Singletary type of guy, and has just about 2 'quality' years left in him.

-It might also be smart to give Gore some new life elsewhere at both his expense, and the expense of some quality trade acquisitions/draft picks going into 2011 (as we're going to have A LOT of holes to fill).

Niner Talk FTW. LMFAO.

LOL sorry, but Frank Gore = Brett Favre of RBs. The entire team/offense centers around him.

I wouldn't really like it, but would not be necessarily opposed to it either. I think the only players I would be truly upset if they traded is Willis. If we want to make a splash next year, they are going to have to pick up some more draft picks...

The only reason why the offense continues to build around Gore is because of the inconsistent play at QB. If Alex Smith through for 30 TD's a year the offense would be built around him.

Keep everybody else

Has Goldson been playing hurt this year? I wonder because he has looked better.

I agree with this we need get rid of the bell chow and go in a different direction. Also when you look around the league at all the good teams they all pretty much have a couple rbs they use. There is no need to have a great running back anymore, this is a pass first league now.
Sorry to beat a dead horse, but as I stated in my "Rest of the Season is Pointless", much of the player personnel decisions could be made based on what type of offense and defense we run next season.

If we switch to a 4-3, we could see a big shift in personnel. If we shift to the west coast offense, or a zone blocking scheme, we might also see some movement in personnel.

Outside of the rookies and some of the guys under contract that are too pricy to dump, or are a tremendous bargain, the rest is open.

Don't be surprised to see all four of our 2010 QB's off the roster in 2011.

that wouldnt be a big surprise. i think they all have potential but the only one i could see staying is possibly Nate Davis. he doesnt cost much, hes young and a good offensive mind could be intrigued by his skill set. Alex wont be back even if they wanted to keep him i think he gives them a big f**k you and leaves, carr is garbage and troy smith will fall through the cracks again because i think hes catching way more s**t than he deserves and sing will pin losses on him too.

You say "when you look around the league at all the good teams they all pretty much have a couple rbs they use."

So...This means you trade away 1 of your good running backs, and one of the few pro bowl talents on the team? Contradiction right there, bub. You keep Gore. What we NEED to do is find a coach next year that will have the cajones and SMARTS to limit Gore's load and get Dixon involved. Once Sing is gone the "bell cow" mentality isn't likely to remain( at least I hope not)/.
