Anytime you win it is a positive, however, let's not forget; this was DENVER. The Broncos are a mess defensively and in the locker room. McDaniel chased away not only Mike Nolan, who had done a very good job with their defense, but also Brandon Marshall and a couple others that he personally didn't like. In Denver they are talking about McDaniel like we talk about Singletary. Lots of dissension there.

The big test will come after the bye. This was a nice win but we should be guarded in our enthusiasm.

True, but we couldn't even beat winless Carolina a week ago. I don't think we as fans can really appreciate how good this win feels to the players...espcially how they found ways to win, as opposed to inventing new ways to lose winnable games.

exactly. When we lose to Carolina, it's a total team failure, and Alex shouldn't get the blame. When we win against Denver, *it was Denver*, so Troy shouldn't get any credit.

LOL, Alexcuses are not only to relieve Alex of any blame for his classic bust performances, but they are also to relieve other QBs of any credit for their great performances. It's funny how this definition evolves and expands as convenience dictates.
You betcha. Having a QB who is mobile and can throw on the run was nice to see. This will come across as Alex bashing, and I have been an Alex Smith supporter in the past, but to me Troy "appears" to want it more.
Alex cannot make the throws that Troy was making, he was actually throwing darts out there and he actually put faith in his WR. I am big Alex backer but he is not getting the job done....... and I am over him......Thank you for what you have done but it time to move on
I need to see this consistently though

Do you guys think the players feel rejuvenated with the play of Troy Smith? He is a young player who seems to have a sense of confidence while on the field (and he can actually hit the open receiver). I believe that the team will get behind Troy and carry this energy into the future. I'm not talking about playoffs (Jim Mora voice), but I think that players like Crabtree, Vernon, Delanie, Frank and even the defense are all very happy about the play of Troy Smith. Thoughts?

Did you see his post game interview , he said my OL my team ! he has that Swag that we need !

All I can say is we are now only 2 wins behind the first place team in our division. We still play every team 2 times except Seattle. If we can win out against our division then we can probably win our division. 8-8 may do it. We cannot lose any of the division games though to pull this off and we need Seattle to drop another game or two somewhere along the way which I'm sure they will. I like how Troy Smith has pocket awareness. He looks like a guy that can create things which we have lacked at the QB position for a few good years. We have got to beat the Rams or we are done in my opinion.

He didn't stare down his WR's either, I did notice though.... that Gore seems to be the primary reciever on some plays, like it was designed that way. Now i know why alex always threw it to him.

I think we can beat the rams, they are the same team they were last year, the only real difference is bradford.

What we need is for manusky to wake the hell up, and call a good defensive game against the rookie QB.
Part of me hopes the season tanks in the 3-13 to 5-11 range so the 9ers are compelled to rid themselves of the stupidity that is "Singletary is a good coach", "Alex Smith will someday be a great QB for the 9ers" blah, blah, blah. (Not an Alex hater I think he may be able to succeed somewhere else just not in 9erland.) Part of me would love to see the 9ers run the table and win the remainder of their games but that is contingent on the rest of the division groping off into oblivion which isn't likely. Mainly what I hope can be ascertained from the remaining season is whether or not Troy Smith is our QB of the future. He opened up the game with his crazy Hail Mary. Otherwise we lose that game with Sing's stupid play not to lose offensive mentality he was clearly saddled with yesterday.
i totally agree that 49ers entire team is rejuvenated off this win we have found our qb of the future honestly we played conservative 1st 3quarters and when we finally decided to throw the ball we scored 21 points in 4th quarter t smith had one rushing td and one passing td he had no turnovers fumbles or ints and no sacks alex smith has 9td to 9 ints this season takes too many sacks and in 50 starts only has a qb rating over a 100 in 2 outta 50 starts this guy troy smith is the truth with a qb rating over 100 1st start he is a leader and a winner he is mobile and accurate honestly i know its just one game but i feel like we have found a diamond in the rough the guys a winners former heisman trophy winner and game manager i defintely feel a sense of optimism in the locker room delanie walker said he believes t smith should start rest of year and if he keeps playing like this so do I

i think its funny that the haters are talking about Troy like the "Alexcusers" talk about Alex.

And don't give me the "oh, we never have good QB play because Alex sucks and so when we get even kinda good QB play we have to celebrate like its the super bowl because Alex sucks, he's the suckiest suck that ever sucked, etc." People are over-hyping Troy Smith and they're the same people who accuse everyone else of over-hyping Alex Smith. its the same delusion.
