I simply pointed out Bill's stats. Give Sing time to finish weeding out the crap. I will make one prediction though, Sing Will never go 2-14.Originally posted by true49erfan:
2-14 in 1979. He also went 0-5 to start that season. Singletary is NOT the problem. We have alot of young guys(rookies) playing. It is also a string of bad luck. Can't coach dropping the ball. It's gonna happen. Believe me, teams know they are on the cusp of being elite. Give Sing more time to finish weeding out the weak links. Can't do it in 1 1/2 seasons. I see more fight and more talent on this team than in the last 8 years. One last note, Anyone who is a true fan would say suggestive, supportive things as opposed to name calling, bashing of anyone with the 49ers. It's such hypocrisy.
That you even used the great BW as a tool for comparison with Singletard is blasphemy!!!
In 1979 the Niners were crap. Bill Walsh turned a door mat into a perennial contender. All while installing the most innovative offensive scheme in NFL history. Sing is 0-5 with a team that is loaded with talent and was a preseason favorite to walk away with the division.
The only crap Sing needs to weed out is himself and his bonehead offensive philosophy.
I love the team just as much as you do, but we have a right to dissatisfaction. This is a franchise that has won 5 Super bowls. We expect the best, and the expectation that we will win is what drove us to win 5 Super Bowls.
Part of the overall problem with the 49ers since DeBartolo lost control of the team is the will to win that permeated from the top-down. I think the team in this last decade has been too satisfied with being a young, up-and-coming team that hasn't accomplished anything. There comes a point where we have to be hungry and want more, and take that next step.
Bill Walsh was hired in the midst of DeBartolo firing another head coach and grasping at straws. Walsh was able to turn the team around. He was 2-14 in his first season, but the team was rallying behind him.
I think our team is still playing hard and we SHOULD continue our support. But when it hits that point where the players stop caring, Singletary will be done.
