How long will it take to fix this team?

It will take as long as it takes Jed to hire a real coach, not a puppet.
Not sure but let me comment on Anthony Dixon. When we drafted him it was probably my favorite pick because I think he was a huge steal in the 6th. He said he grew up rooting for the 49ers and watching every game he could. We know what he did in the pre season but and hasn't had much opportunities in the regular season but you should see him on the sidelines. He is the biggest team player, cheerleader over there. I think he will be great for us once Gore retires or starts slowing down. He has been doing well on special teams. The two chances he got so far for running was a TD and then against ATL he did a nice job of getting the 1st down on 3rd and 1 despite having a guy on him 2 yards in the backfield.
Right now I would agree that Luck is the best QB right now. Problem is didn't he say he wants to get his degree. He red shirted his freshman year so he is eligible though. Plus I just don't see us getting the #1 pick. As bad as we are playing I think we are better than 5 teams at least.
Once the Yorks sell this team to Ed Roski, we'll be fine.

One off-season...in fact, Jed needs to get a jump-start on replacing his head coach, which should be done at mid-season. Bring in a Gruden or Billick, let them get a feel for their team and then they can bring in whatever coaches they want during the off-season. We should draft Andrew Luck to play QB. I'm giving our rookie OL a realistic chance...you can't say it was a mistake to draft them after just 4 games. They played pretty well in the Saints and Falcons games, which were both against very talented teams. Totally agree WRT our CB's. Nate actually had a very good game in Atlanta, despite his gaffe with is pick return. Brown's a totally liability in coverage. Spencer's pretty good and consistent. I'd like to see Adams get on the field...he's got very good quickness and closes on the ball very well. Brown needs to be demoted to dime. I think Mays and Reggie Smith are our best S. Not impressed w/Goldson. We also need a terror on the DL to compliment Justin Smith. Our LB corps is pretty good...Bowman looks to be the real deal. Brooks is also showing more and more...he made some excellent tackles in the Atlanta game. We have enough playmakers on offense...we simply need a QB who can consistently get them the ball, not turn it over, and when the situation calls for it, have the ability to take over the game and win it.

No to Gruden. No to Billick. Gruden was nearly murdered by his players in Tampa Bay and is making too much money for doing too little to be persuaded to coach again. Billick is entirely overrated and I would not trust him to develop a young QB (he failed to develop anyone in Baltimore for almost a decade).

We do not have enough play makers on offense. Crabtree is a possession receiver that lacks real speed. Neither Morgan nor Zeigler are #1s. We apparently need a change of pace back to spell Gore. (Gore is going to shatter at some point if he keeps getting run into the back of the line 20+ times a game). Oh, and we don't have a quarterback.
For those of you who say as soon as we get a quarterback, do you really trust this front office to get a franchise quarterback and surround him with right minds to develop him? This team's problems are much deeper than just a QB. It starts from the top and trickles down. As long as this ownership is around I don't see this franchise having a functional competent front office.

I wish it were that easy...but it is not.

The defense needs to improve in overall speed.

Needs at least one CB that can run with the Roddy Whites of the league.

Needs a cover safety that has speed - a bigger, faster, more instinctive guy than Goldson. An Earl Thomas.

And the #1 defensive need is for a pass rusher that the opponent has to game plan for.

If the new HC is going to stick with a 3-4, the D needs a legit two-gap NT.

That is just the defensive needs that must be met.

On offense it starts with drafting a new QB and the hope that he can be ready in a year...not a certainty at all.

Speedy WR

ETC

ETC

Of course this is the league of parity and a crummy team that can go .500 is the goal...so maybe in a year it could be better but I'm not holding my breath.

Plug in a consistent QB...a good offensive minded head coach...and shore up the secondary and this team is legit.
however long it takes to grab a quality QB.

im gonna chalk this season up to the stars not being aligned, the football gods not showing us favor or maybe even football gremlins.

in the end none of us know how long its gonna take. if and when this team hires a real GM we still wont know. then comes the new HC/staff and who knows how long it will take for them to hash out the roster/scheme to their specs. there could end up being a mass exodus, reshaping and firing

the D NEEDS some more new blood ASAP, scheming, something, anything. p-52 isn't playing at the lvl we're used to (angles of pursuit, intensity and ability to shed blockers) but at the same time i cant really remember a time when Oline men were able to reach him so often. WRU franklin??? parys was abused in coverage as usual. manny needed a couple of tries b4 he could finish a play but that's more than 98. DS is not a ball hawk/coverage FS so he needs to rethink his value or change his game if possible. Thank the powers that be for the cowboy but he can't last forever. 22 is only getting older and more expensive and he wont move to FS which imo would be an instant upgrade at pos.

how long will it take for this team to figure out that they are not obligated to run on the 1st play of every series or on the 1st play of a new set of downs EVERY TIME! how long will it take for the HC/OC to figure out that the playaction dump to norris should not be counted on as a staple play. our oline is still young so they're gonna mess up but, the false start thing at home games none the less cant go on. i didn't think so b4 but i do now but this team still needs a wr who can compliment our stable of STDS on an every down basis. and finally how long will it take for the idea to cement that AS is not the one? more often than not he plays like the guy who fumbled the ball rather then the dude who played p*ssed off for 16 min of the game.

we need

With the right coaching staff in place, not too long. But that would be the smart thing for the Yorks to do, they won't so years!
this team aint gonna get better until we get Alex Smith outta here.

if we really want to be great and contend for a title, then we hire a REAL head coach.

well..... good thing the 9er HQ is not too far from the Stanford Campus.
I don't think this team will ever have a plan until they hire a very experienced GM to overhaul coaching staff & how they run things over here.
