How long will it take to fix this team?

No matter how long, it won't be fast enough.

If Sam Bradford can make that talent starved team in St. Louis look good then I would say we are one draft (in which we get a high tier QB) and hiring a proven HC/OC (Gruden anyone?) away from turning this around. I think we could get away with Sing again but we have to have a QB to EXECUTE!!!! We are wasting our talent with Alex and it is time to get a starting QB and an adequate backup and stop picking up never been QB's like Carr.

One off season.

Plug in a consistent QB...a good offensive minded head coach...and shore up the secondary and this team is legit.

With the present ownership and front office, probably another 10 years if they get lucky. This franchise's biggest weakness is not coaching or quarterback. It's at the highest levels. Until there are big changes we will continue to go through the high hopes to crash and burn seasons over and over.

Totally agree.
Our biggest issue starts at the top with poor management and leadership making bad staffing decisions year after year.

YES!!!! We need to draft Andrew Luck

John Clayton was on ESPN radio "Mike & Mike" and said the 9ers are a "mess". He also thinks more players are gonna wanna leave the team.

If the Yorks can't see the shambles that the team is in (everyone else in america can see it) we are in for a long road (several years) of misery!

Yorks have to fire Singletary now and start taking their football team seriously.

I would say Gruden is our best option right now. I know some players have had some issues with him in the past but he has sat out of football for a couple of years and I am sure he has analyzed his past coaching decisions. I am sure he has learned from his mistakes and I really think he would be a better coach now more than ever.

Here us what needs to happen

1. We need to trade for a high first round pick so we can get a QB like Andrew Luck
2.We need to fire Sing and Hire Gruden. The only thing i dont like about that is he might fire Mike Johnson. But since alex smith will be sent packing I dont think we need to worry about that.
3. Our Saftey situation has found a long term solution in Taylor Mays and Dashon Goldsen so we are good there.
4. We need to evaluate clements at the end of the season and see where he stands. If he does not improve I think we trade him for draft picks and then draft a good corner.
5. The O line will need time to develope but I think Chilo Rachal is our week point. So far I think they are going to get better because in the saints game they performed like a dream. I think the 2 rookies are not accostumed to the croud noise yet so they will get better.
6. Trade or get rid of Spikes and replace him with bowman. Spikes is automatically gone if the season goes down the toilet.
7. Draft or get a good pass rusher because I dont care how good your DB's are if you cannot get pressure on the QB then he will tear u up all day.
8. Please give frank a break and get a change of pace running back like dixon or westbrook in there. Its making me sick to know that we have a game changer who was no where to be seen against atlanta

It all start with the draft and the HC guys. You have to rid your team of the old guys that are under performing and replace them with fresh talent. I know that whoever our HC is next year they will invest heavily in the draft. That is how you build a football team.

How long? It depends on when the Niners hire a good offensive-minded head coach and get a good NFL QB. If that happens by 2011, they could be fixed next year.

If the Niners delay on firing Singletary or cannot get a good NFL, it could be another 5-8 years. Doh!!!

Just get rid of Sing and let the assistant coaches coach without having to work around Sing's silly philosophy. He is holding the team back.

Any of the assistants, the most respected of them, whoever that might be, can be the HC on an interim basis and be evaluated at the end of the year.

we can fix it easily by just adding a QB who can place the ball where it needs to be. And if Singletary can just stay the hell out of the OC and DC's business.
