very scary situation right now
we dont win we become a less attractive team to Free Agents
Only way we could bring in free Agents is to overspend... some the yorks will be reluctant to do.

With the present ownership and front office, probably another 10 years if they get lucky. This franchise's biggest weakness is not coaching or quarterback. It's at the highest levels. Until there are big changes we will continue to go through the high hopes to crash and burn seasons over and over.
Totally agree.
Our biggest issue starts at the top with poor management and leadership making bad staffing decisions year after year.
I share the sentiment, our only hope is that they start treating like a football team and not a business. We can fight, scream, get pissed as much as we want but they will not sale the team, they dont have to.

HIRE AN AWESOME GM. We need a personnel guy who knows the league and knows football. We need a GM who understands what a good/great coach looks like. We need to let Trent Baalke keep his meaningless VP title (which just means chief scout, much like McCloughan was) and get a GM ready to select a coach who KNOWS what he's doing.
This team needs more than just a QB, this team needs leadership from above. This team needs an experienced football executive to come in, clean house and create structure that will sustain AFTER he leaves and the team can run on that structure regardless of who's at OC, DC, etc. There's no stability in the organization and as a result no stability at the HC and thus most important skill positions.
Until we bring in some leadership and not invest all of that leadership in a HC, this team will continue to fall on its face. This team has no structure.
Remember after Walsh, the 49ers were good for a very long time with Siefert and Mariucci - and it wasn't just because Rice and Young were on the team, it was because there was a solid management structure in place to help stabilize the team through changes.
We had structure for 25 years until Nolan.

One off season.
Plug in a consistent QB...a good offensive minded head coach...and shore up the secondary and this team is legit.
Agreed.

Seems like we're light years away sitting at 0-4, but I think a good QB is all we need.

I agree, but until the mindset changes at the top there wont be any spending for GM's or VP of football ops.

"Fixing" this team is all about the QB and the HC. The HC needs to be an offensive guy so everyone knows there will be continuity in the offensive system. The HC then needs to pick his QB, which probably needs to be a young QB from the draft (unless Nate Davis gets a chance this year and proves he can be the answer).
Everyone nationally likes the 49ers talent other than the QB and growing skepticism about the HC.
Cower is not coming here. Gruden is the obvious choice, though Gruden does not have the best history with young QBs and would probably want to get a Rich Gannon-Brad Johnson type to try to win in the short term.
If not Gruden, then they should look to Jim Harbaugh at Stanford. He's an offensive guy, has some attitude, has ties to the Bay Area and the 49ers did pretty well the last time they were a losing franchise and looked at a Stanford coach who had made Stanford competitive.

Another 15-20 years would be my guess. By "fixed," I'm referring to Super Bowl caliber.

3 years. That is the time it takes most college QBs to adapt to the pro game. I doubt our front office can fish out the next Peyton Manning.

We have more talent than a lot of teams, we should not be 0-4
