BINGO! I was screamin at the tv wondering why we play 10 yards off the ball giving up 5 to 6 yards every pass attempt. Contrary to what the Raiders run. There's no excuse for that shoddy play we've seen from our CBs, mostly Clements. I seriously think the guy is losing his game. He has been on a decline for the past two years.

I'm not saying he has to be Deion, but I don't think it's too much to NOT get beat on almost every play. Dude needs to pick it up.

who is our db's are terrible? Tell me? how? dude.. I just check the video relay from 49ers vs Raiders.. I find ouit that Blame Safely hit from #30 Smith Reggie and #32 Michael Lewis... They are both gave up the TD for us... Smith REggie didn't get a cover and bad play and goes same Michael Lewis....

Aren't safeties considered DB's?

I thought our safeties collectively played far worse than our corners last night, starters and backups.

That Murphy TD catch was Manusky's fault (even though Reggie was out of position), granted it's pre-season, but calling a zone blitz with like lest den a minute to play in the half, at their own 30 was a horrible idea. Should of just gone with a 2 deep safety/man coverage and at worst give him a FG.

I know, but it was still embarrassing, mainly because it was the Raiders. And ya I know Manusky won't call that a play that bad when the games count.

Not sure about anyone else, but that's NOT the play I'm talking about.

I'm talking about Nate Clements being 8 yards off his WR then not even being in the picture screen when his WR makes the catch then turns up field for more yardage.

It's like just throw it outside and you're going to get a 10-12 yard gain EVERY time.

His coverage has down hill for two years now. He needs to pick his game up, especially considering his salary.

Also, I would agree that the Safety play was terrible lastnight as well. By the 3rd preseason game we should be seeing a fairly accurate representation of what we can expect to see from the starters and considering the years of experience we have between Clements and Lewis, we shouldn't see the likes of the Raiders backup QB march up and down the field.

Not saying its great or perfect but Nate will play off his man for a reason in preseason. He said that last year or the year before it is so he can work on different things. If it is still happening in the regular season then it would be something to b***h about.

just seen the highlights not the game, but it seem the 49ers on defense were playing a cover two with the corners covering the short slant, can somebody confirm? that would explain the way Raiders attack with an all go route. If that is the case I wouldnt worry about how easy was for Raiders to get big gains.

Only reason I'm saying something is because it did happen in the regular season quite often last year.

Clements and Lewis have one year left with us IMO. Both are losing a step and their CAP amount will be to big next year.

He not close, if anything R Smith would step in. Mays is going to need at least another year to be starter worthy.

spikes needs to know how avoid blocks. that would help their db's
