P Willis, Justin Smith and J Staley top the list... Losing Gore or one of the starting CBs wouldn't exactly be cool either....not to mention Andy Lee or Joe Nedney.
I think the player they can least afford to lose however, is Justin Smith... Have any of you looked at the Niners D-linemen lately? This guy makes a pretty mediocre line better than average. He is a stud. One of the best FA signings this team has managed in the past decade.

yeah 2 rookie OL who havent played a down in the NFL are "irreplaceable". and Goldson isnt replaceable? hard hitting S with poor coverage skills? you can find those all over the place. in fact, we drafted one.
the only "irreplaceable" players on this team are Patrick Willis, Vernon Davis, and Michael Crabtree because of the natural ability that doesnt come around every day. Willis is a once in a generation talent, VD has horrible hands and no discipline, but his size and speed is extremely rare, and Crabtree has the tools to be the next great wr imo.
other than that, i hate to break it to you guys, but nobody else is irreplaceable. Frank Gore is awesome, but good RB's are a dime a dozen in the NFL today. notice how half the NFL have pro bowl caliber RB? Gore is better than most, but anyone with talent and a solid blocking scheme can have a good RB.
one possible 4th guy would be Andy Lee, since he is on a level with one other player in what he does, and it drops off after that. the consistent punting he does to give us nice field position on D cant be overlooked. you could argue losing him would be a fairly big blow if we had to just sign some random punter.

P. Willis
J. Smith
A. Lee
At these positions, I don't think that there's anybody better in the NFL.

I would argue that, with a good line, Gore is among the most easily replaceable players on the team.
Solid running backs aren't hard to come by these days.
Because of his skill as both a blocker and reciever, VD may be the most valuable guy on the offense right now. Few tight ends can do both of those things as well as he can so I'd have to say he is the most irreplaceable guy on offense.
On defense, probably just P-Willy.

Traditional 4-3 Defensive Ends? What do they have to do with Justin Smith, who is currently employed with the San Francisco 49ers as a 3-4 Defensive End?

It is pretty crazy what J. Smith is able to do as a 3-4 End.

I am sorry to tell you folks this, but everyone is replaceable. It doesn't matter if they are NFL all pros or CEOs at corporations. Everyone can be replaced.
The question should read, who would we have difficulty replacing.

Six years and counting without a receiver producing at least 1,000 yards receiving.
To say replacing his production as difficult would be an understatement.

Not sure I agree. Who replaced Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott, BY, Rathman, Haley?
I know what you are saying and I don't entirely disagree. Way too many names in this thread. But genuinely I don't see that Willis could be replaced. Franklin could not be replaced realistically right now I think and I chose Crabtree because I think he has sky high potential.

Really? It's an obvious hyperbole that no one seems to have any difficulty understanding.
