That's why TE's owned us, screens owned us oh and they took out Manny on passing downs

Let me get this straight. They have been grooming your replacement for the past year, they just brought in another OLB, and another guy who played OLB in college, but you're not showing up because you want a new contract? How about show up, be in great shape, work your a** off and prove that you're the best OLB on the team, then you'll get a new contract.

He can be a good player at times but he just isn't consistent at all. One play he'll get a sack, then the next one he won't hold the edge and give up a huge run. He isn't dependable on the field and is hardly on the field due to his injuries. With Vernon and Goldson up for extensions he has to know he's pretty low on the priority list.

He was drafted for a reason and hasn't fulfilled that reason. Sure he has other great qualities and is generally liked by everybody but he's the one holding out. How much money do you think we should pay a 2 down OLB then figure how much money he thinks he should be paid. If he wants like a 4 year 8-10 million dollar deal I would be ok with that. But I'm thinking he wants a lot more then 10 mill.

What exactly do you mean by survive? Cuz a couple 2-14, 4-12 seasons isn't "suriving" in my book. Manny does a lot of things no one really notices, and doesnt show up on the stat sheet. His outside containment on running plays making our run defense what it is. He plays with great lateral quickness, can cover TE's and Rb's, and is a great run stopper.

I'm not saying he should get a huge contract, but 2-million a year wouldn't be too bad.

Players skip OTAs all the time. And what people don't understand is that it's still a business. What if he gets injured during OTAs? Then he'll probably get released or won't get resigned and lose out on money. It's just the nature of the sport unfortunately, but as fans, we shouldn't be treating our own like that. Manny has always been a class act and nowhere in those articles did it say that Manny was demanding anything and acting like a baby about it. There are some kickers that make more money than his base salary right now.

Back to Manny though, it's not like he's asking for a HUGE contract. None of us know that yet. But I think he should get extended. He's our best cover linebacker.

I do think that SD probably has that title more then me, he clearly hates the Yorks. I myself dont really care to much about ownership, I try to focus on the players and coaches.

Back to Manny, I think you and me clearly differ on his abilities. I dont think he fits into a 3-4 defense, in a 3-4 the OLB must be able to pressure the QB and that is something that Manny is not very good at. IMO it would be better for the Niners to let him walk and upgrade that spot.

That's agent talk. How many Pro Bowls has he made? How many tackles, assists, knockdowns and sacks does he have. This guy was drafed to rush the passer. He got half his career sacks while playing a hybrid DE/OLB position.

Pardon me if I'm not as dazzled as you are by Manny Lawson. He's a solid player, but irreplaceable? Hardly.

Nothing wrong with wanting more money. We all like money, but Lawson is NOT the top priority for the Niners when it comes to resigning players. He's got a contract that was negotiated and signed. Has he outplayed it? I don't think so. Play now and get paid later.

He can play or he can sit. This isn't the way to get what he wants because he feels unloved.

Of course this is all speculation. But it is worth discussing simply out of boredom. I think he wants to go elsewhere, I don't htink he was happy about the LaBoy signing or Brooks getting more involved. I mean, I wouldn't be too crazy about that. I just think skipping out on the OTA's is the wrong way to handle it. I think he should prove he has the better chemistry with the defense, the team. Further prove how his athleticism is an asset the team needs.

I think he tipped his hand too early. Skipping out on practices (even f**king OTA's) really only looks bad on him. He needs to play well this year, I just don't think this is the way to get about it.
