Players skip OTAs all the time. And what people don't understand is that it's still a business. What if he gets injured during OTAs? Then he'll probably get released or won't get resigned and lose out on money. It's just the nature of the sport unfortunately, but as fans, we shouldn't be treating our own like that. Manny has always been a class act and nowhere in those articles did it say that Manny was demanding anything and acting like a baby about it. There are some kickers that make more money than his base salary right now.

Back to Manny though, it's not like he's asking for a HUGE contract. None of us know that yet. But I think he should get extended. He's our best cover linebacker.

I do think that SD probably has that title more then me, he clearly hates the Yorks. I myself dont really care to much about ownership, I try to focus on the players and coaches.

Back to Manny, I think you and me clearly differ on his abilities. I dont think he fits into a 3-4 defense, in a 3-4 the OLB must be able to pressure the QB and that is something that Manny is not very good at. IMO it would be better for the Niners to let him walk and upgrade that spot.

He was able to get to the QB last yr for 6.5 sacks despite coming off a serious knee injury (or was that the year prior, I don't remember) and only playing the first two downs. That's not too bad. Calvin Pace, I believe, got a big contract after having 6.5 sacks.

I just don't want to give up on him yet.

I agree w/ Lawson that he's underpaid because he's still under his rookie contract and did get us what...6 or 7 sacks last season. BUT...so far in his career, he hasn't lived up to expectations compared to where he was drafted! With that said, MM mentioned in his article that Pace got big bucks in FA (as most get overpaid). If Lawson thinks he's so good, he should pursue FA instead, most likely get overpaid and continue to NOT live up to expectations. The Niners FO have proven that if you perform, you get taken care of w/ contract extensions. Davis and Goldson are next in line...so wait your turn, Manny!

With Brooks coming on, Lawson is pretty much done unless he shows something this year. He hasn't done anything up to this point and he wants more $$???? Huh?

Eh, it's just OTAs. He probably didn't wanna go to those anyway. He's a decent player but decent players shouldn't be the ones holding out for more money. As long as he shows up for training camp and finally lives up to his expectations this season I'm sure he'll be taken care of. If not, let him walk and we wont miss him anyway.

he gets taken out for Brooks who is NOT a defensive back. Takeo Spikes is the one gets taken out for a DB. We are not the one who showed our football ignorance

I am pretty sure Lawson was being replaced by another LB by the name of Brooks, but hey I don't watch film so what do I know.
