anyhow, it's still niner news

I think he will tear it up this year. But he needs to do that before he complains about a contract. Have a good year without getting injured and then you will get paid.

I don't think he fits in here....and is better off with another team.....they don't know how to use him.......but I'd love for him to still be here.

I think Manny is one of, if not THE, most underrated players on our team. I know he is not the sack artist we thought we were drafting, but he was tied for the team lead in sacks, and he is waaaaaaay better in run support than any other OLB on our team. Manny should get his $$$.

Players skip OTAs all the time. And what people don't understand is that it's still a business. What if he gets injured during OTAs? Then he'll probably get released or won't get resigned and lose out on money. It's just the nature of the sport unfortunately, but as fans, we shouldn't be treating our own like that. Manny has always been a class act and nowhere in those articles did it say that Manny was demanding anything and acting like a baby about it. There are some kickers that make more money than his base salary right now.

This is the kind of crap that gets on my nerves. He signed the contract, didn't he? He knew it was front loaded and lighter on the backend. He wanted the money now (then), and now he doesn't like it. The NFL really needs to fix this crap on both sides (player/team). You sign the contract, you honor it.

There's no honor. Its purely a business. These guys have a very small window to play. They sacrifice their bodies and will probably be crippled or dead by 55. Even the ledgends of a franchise (LT, Farv, Montana, Rice,Lott) get tossed to the curb when someone younger comes along and they're no long considered useful. So I say get the money, f**k for the love of the game. Are any of you fans gonna be there to drive them to bingo?

In defense of Lawson.....he's barely getting half a million?


I like Lawson, mainly his speed and height, but his tackling kinda sucks.

Hopefully he'll come back in great form.

BTW the article says that his agent suggests that OTA's are ok to skip to avoid injury.

Dump him for a draft pick next year.

Even though the initial OP's idea is vague and leaves people thinking Manny is giving the team the finger.

I don't have a problem with people being angry. Look how angry I was at Tree for holding out through Camp. I was smokin mad.

But Manny has done EVERYTHING asked of him and as the 49ers said, he didn't miss any mandatory functions. He's been a team player right from the get go.

I will say that I think he's underpaid for what is asked of him. $625k? Frank is making more than that and look how many games he sat out last season? While Manny is ONE of the guys that makes this Defense work? He should be making more than that. Hell didn't Brooks just get re-signed for more money than what Manny is making and he isn't on the field as much?

I wonder how many of you would be happily collecting Vet minimum to do more work than a guy who makes more than you. I know I wouldn't. Brooks takes Parys's side of the field more often than Parys does and now all of a sudden he's worthy of taking Manny's too?

People are assuming he is holding out for some monster contract...which isn't true. Him and his agent have to understand he is a two down linebacker but they probably also understand he is vastly underpaid at $650k this year. Just sign him to a two year extension for like $1-2m per year.

All this trade talk is retarded, he is a starter and should be paid accordingly. He is getting paid backup money right now, just pay him the same as a middle of the pack LB and be done with it.
