They are really awful. I never read anything from the Chronicle if it has already been reported by one of the Matt's. It's wierd too because they are a bigger newspaper so you would think they would have better writers.

What the fcuk is the matter with you zoners, he is just a reporter, we should welcome him rather than putting him down. Who cares where MM is gone, if he keeps on reporting on the Niners, then thats fine, otherwise fcuk him. He is the one who left the Press Democrat.

They are, but they're better than Reese's pieces. Better pb & chocolate to candy coating ratio.

As a Santa Rosa resident I like that the PD assigned an experienced hand like Barber so quickly. That said, when Matt gets his blog up and running at CSN about 95% of the Zone will bookmark him and he'll resume as the unquestioned dean of 49ers reporters. I expect that he'll be much more free to add his personal opinion to his takes.

Sunoco, you are the voice of reason. Let's give Phil Barber a decent chance. Matt's still going to be writing about the 49ers, just somewhere else, so in a sense we're getting another pair of eyes and ears added to the reporting pool. Win for Matt, win for us.

Big Mahalos to Phil Barber for keeping us informed. Nice job with your first day on the job. I truly appreciated all the info MM shared with us die hard 49er fans, for so many years. MM was the man in my book, and lucky for us a 2nd Matt (MB) came on the scene with quality work also. Thank you for your blog info today, and hope you will enjoy your work with the 49ers for a long time.

As for all the negative zoners, TURN UP YOUR LIGHT, give Phil a chance to get started on the right foot, and keep your dark thoughts turned off. You're getting free information, enjoy it.
