Great hire from an operations standpoint.

But he now has no business being in the coaches booth on Sundays.

Why not, he is part of the team, if they have room or they ask him to help with something. Besides you don't know what he is doing up there. He may have been asked to help record numbers like how many times they pass in this area, how many times they run off tackle to the left and right, how many times they run on 1st, 2nd and third, etc. Don't need a football man to input data to a computer programed to analyze things. that is still number crunching.

Now if you got proof that he is telling them to run this play or that def., that is something else, but there is no proof of that.

The role you described is more of a quality control assistant coach.

And we already have those people on the roster. My point is that you don't want a front office suit trying to mess up your rhythm and your locker room. During Singletary's last season, Marathe was removed from the coaching booth. Rumors suggest he was leaking team info to the media and Jed.

If Jed York was doing the numbers crunching, everyone here would flip. But just because Marathe has a MBA and handles contracts means its acceptable?

Honestly, I think people don't like him because he's Indian (IIRC). People just don't think that an Indian should be running an American sports team, for whatever reason.

lol what?? Race has NOTHING to do with it. It's the fact that a nerdy stanford number cruncher is being given power in the football aspect. He should only be dealing with contracts and numbers, because that's what he's good at.

Stoney, the guy is a kid with zero football experience. If he was so good to skyrocket up our management depth chart like this, don't you think other teams would have made an attempt, any attempt at all, to land this guy? Beuller? Beuller?

Only a guy who has played football would be able to do his job, right? Um, no actually. I dont see what the problem is. When you actually hear about what he has done, it always seems very positive.

So exactly what is the problem, quoting examples? Him being a nerdy Stanford product isnt really a valid argument.

hes been given control in an area that he knows little about, and weve been horrible unsuccessful as a team since he was given any kind of power. how is that not good enough reason to take away his football power? its not his fault weve been bad, but the point is he hasnt improved anything 'football' wise, so nothing hes done in that area proves he has any business doing such things. hes great with numbers and contracts, but just because hes ambitious doesnt mean you give him a football experts job.

everything positive hes done for the franchise has been contract/cap room related. he isnt a "football guy". hes a numbers guy.

He's been doing a great job, thats for sure.

The reason a lot of people dogged on him in the past is due to John York's silence about what he was doing in the front office. With no clear cut defined role, he was looked at as a John York puppet (aka a Robert Rowell for all my Warrior fans). Glad it turned out that he wasnt part of the problem.

That's true... there was a lot of confusion on what his role actually was.
It feels like "Moneyball" for the NFL ... playing the same game as everybody else, but on a completely different level.

Confusion amongst fans. Not within the office. Let's be clear about that. Fans don't need to know the day-to-day duties of the execs.

Yes, the Razor was obsessed with him for a bit. He literally talked about him everyday.

Right? Jed has been paying attention as he was growing up. Listening, working hard, and remembering, all attributing to his direction now. He made a huge mistake with Singletary, but his heart was in the right place. Now his mind and soul have caught up and he's letting others take care of their jobs while he directs the ship.
