I'm stoked! I wonder if he'll bring his funny hat with him?

Funny hat?

Brown used to wear an extra layer of padding on top of his helmet to help protect against concussion. It looked like half a golden soccer ball stuck on top of his helmet.

Oh yeah, I remember that, but I think that was Steve Wallace.

I believe that is Steve Wallace. Definitely not Ray Brown...........

Wow Ray Brown. Now that was an excellent FA signing for our offensive line. The other one I remember was the dude we signed that played for the Giants in the late 90's. His name slips me though. He only played one season for us I believe.

Ron Stone?

Hey Oz, this is a good move. Why the doubt?

My neutrality comes from the fact that I don't know anything about him or his abilities as a coach. I haven't read anything about his coaching track record or his credentials, but I only now know that at one point in time, he was a good player for us.

Based on the above, I don't have much to judge the hire on, but I guess the more help the lines receives, the better.

Ah, well for those of us that have had the honor of watching Brown play ..... it's a great move. Given McKittrick's personal endorsement, you should trust the "we need new OL coaching" crowd! LOL!!

Just giddy I tell ya! Just giddy!

Unfortunately, I've only been a fan since 2002 so I never got to see him play.

I've long said that coaching a player/team and playing a game require two completely different skill sets which is why I don't think that good players necessarily make good coaches.

Here's to hoping for the best since everyone is joyed by the hire.

Singletary is making some good moves! Let's hope this trend continues in free Agency and the Draft! Nice job Samurai Mike!

For all the people who cry about not keeping the lines from our past open should start drying their teams. No, we don't have Jerry Rice as a WRs coach but Sing has done a good job bringing some alums back to the organization.

This is HUGE for our line. They will be drastically improved.
I'm very impressed that we're putting a heavy emphasis on our assistant coaching positions. -80% of the teams that were in the playoffs (and both teams in the Superbowl) were very strong about that assistant o-line position (as it is either a consultant/entry level spot for the future at OL coach).
Good move Ray Brown has the credentials that will give him respect from the OL. Was a great OL for the Niners back in the day. Big, smart, great technique and nasty. Yet nicest guy in the world when the game was over
i love this hire.

This might not be a good thing even though it seems like it

Remember when Raiders hired Art Shell, and they had like 2 other Hall of Fame Lineman as their OL coaches

they were the worst offensive line in the league

that was because that three diffferent coaches each try to teach their own way so thy got all the linemen confused, which resulted a sack feast every game

Please don't compare the 49ers to the anything Raiders. Solari is the OL coach. Brown is just an assistant. Probably there to teach Rachal technique and maybe even how to be nasty.

Two McKittrick desciples in charge of our o-line. I'll take that any day of the week.
