man this could mean big things next year.
Since we're on the topic of bring back former players to coach, what about Jerry Rice as our WR assistant????

Had we drafted Desean Jackson, that actually wouldn't be too far from reality.

This might not be a good thing even though it seems like it

Remember when Raiders hired Art Shell, and they had like 2 other Hall of Fame Lineman as their OL coaches

they were the worst offensive line in the league

that was because that three diffferent coaches each try to teach their own way so thy got all the linemen confused, which resulted a sack feast every game

Please don't compare the 49ers to the anything Raiders. Solari is the OL coach. Brown is just an assistant. Probably there to teach Rachal technique and maybe even how to be nasty.

Two McKittrick disciples in charge of our o-line. I'll take that any day of the week.

Amen to that. Scott McLaughlin has spent a ton of money and draft picks trying to build this line. The potential is through the roof with Baas and Rachal, there's a good chance that this group takes a quantum leap next year.
nice. Ray Brown was great for us. always happy to see a great 49er player with qualifications to coach come aboard.
49ers Hire Brown to Assist with Coaching O-line

Quote:
The San Francisco 49ers have hired Ray Brown as assistant offensive line coach, according to a league source.

Brown was part of the Buffalo staff that was let go, and is the latest member of that staff to find work elsewhere in the league, with multiple teams interested in many of the coaches let go by the Bills.

Brown played longer on the offensive line than virtually anyone in league history and was still starting games for the Redskins after age 40.

Now hire Jerry Rice to be assistant receivers coach!

Really happy about this hire. The thing about Ray Brown is this; you can just tell what he brings to the table just by looking at the man - respect, drive, consistency, longevity, peace of mind. Forget about "Ravens West" or "K.C. West" - MSingary's vision for this team is of the 49ers of old, the classiest team in the NFL. Also, do you think Chilo or Staley or anyone would ever back talk to this man?!?
All I can think about this hire is, this got to help Chilo and Bass. The green and the underachieved.

Hey Oz, this is a good move. Why the doubt?

My neutrality comes from the fact that I don't know anything about him or his abilities as a coach. I haven't read anything about his coaching track record or his credentials, but I only now know that at one point in time, he was a good player for us.

Based on the above, I don't have much to judge the hire on, but I guess the more help the lines receives, the better.

Ah, well for those of us that have had the honor of watching Brown play ..... it's a great move. Given McKittrick's personal endorsement, you should trust the "we need new OL coaching" crowd! LOL!!

Just giddy I tell ya! Just giddy!

Unfortunately, I've only been a fan since 2002 so I never got to see him play.

I've long said that coaching a player/team and playing a game require two completely different skill sets which is why I don't think that good players necessarily make good coaches.

Here's to hoping for the best since everyone is joyed by the hire.

I'll drink to that! Very enthusiastic about this hire. Have faith!!!!!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good move, and if we are hit by the injury bug, Ray can suit up and play in a pinch
