If Crabtree is the first read in a progression (which he is most of the time), then Smith is probably going through the progressions and thats when the line breaks down, so yeah he probably is forcing it there a little bit. I dont think we would see this as a problem if the line could hold up for more than 2 seconds.
More often than not, there are 4 guys on the line that are blocking and the 5th guy lets his guy blow right by him. Its not necessarily the same guy getting beat either. I cant remember the last time when one of our QBs dropped back and you heard the broadcasters say, "________ drops back to pass.......he has a lot of time......throws to _______ for a ___ yard completion. If the ______ are going to beat the 49ers they are going to have to get better pressure on the Quarterback."

Forcing it to Crabtree?

i agree. But he just wasn't consistent with it. Then again, who was throwing to him? I was upset when we let him go.

He wasnt very consistent but I think he is better than Morgan. We had no business letting him go when we did. We were horrible at WR when we parted with him.

one thing i am mad at though is crabtree needed to make that catch near the goal line on 3rd down right before nedney missed that FG
Yup that's a catch playmakers make.
The kid is a playmaker. That throw was horrible. Behind and outside, while he was running deep and inside with no safety to be seen.
Have you seen the catches he's made on the sideline? The first play of the game for example, which I was convinced he had reeled in?? The kid has hands!
Have you seen the catches Brandon Lloyd has made with us?
That's what you come back with?? What a dumbass.
You guys are all marveling over his catches, and none of his catches top any of Lloyds. So once Crabtree starts producing more than just catches I will give him his props. Dumb ass? How old are you, do you even know anything about football?
Let me put it to you this this way...Brandon Lloyd sucks. His name should not be uttered on this forum, just for the bad vibe aspects. He was hated by his teammates, because he punked out & blamed other people when he was called out for being a p*ssy.
A few circus catches, and mostly suckage the rest of the time is nothing to marvel at IMO.
Hell of a rapper, though.

that was a catch
I too wanted so much to believe it was a catch, the call could have easily been made to overturn the call... but in slow motion, my dvr played it over and over frame by frame, the shin came down out of bounds before the second foot tapped in. great challenge by Singletary but good call by the ref. There was also the fact that the defender ripped it from him after they hit the ground. If this is why the call was stood incomplete, I question it because he obviously controlled it all the way to the ground with the defend landing on him ripping it away... inbounds that would have been a catch and down by contact.

yeah seriously, wtf? You think Crabtree hasn't shown more than Lloyd?
Crabtree has already shown more than Lloyd, he comes up with the hard catches, he takes hits, he goes over the middle and he doesn't slack off on his team, he goes hard every snap.
So he dropped a pass .... your standard is so high you expect perfection from a rookie in his first games? You would have run Rice out of town.

That was definetely a catch. We have to keep going to him, we can't go over a quarter & not look at him. He makes plays.

I think that ball hit him squarley between the one and the five, that was a perfect throw.
