I don't think Lewis needs to go anywhere. I think you invest an early draft pick (R2-R3) for a SS prospect that can rotate with Lewis in certain situations - ala Roman.

FS: Goldson/Smith
SS: Lewis/T.J. Ward (or someone else).

That's a good combo at safety. And you keep Clements at CB - which is what both parties ideally want.

Exactly. I do not want to move Goldson as he looks very comfortable at FS now. If we have the chance to find a quicker SS, that could pay big dividends for us down the road.

Possibilities may include Kam Chancellor, Ward, Skinner (Maryland), Phillips (Northwestern), Stuckey, Coleman, Church, etc.

Exactly. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Not all FS's can be the Ed Reed or Bob Sanders type. Besides, Goldson could be a pro-bowl player in 2010 with a better pass rush.
IMO, Goldson is one heck of a player, and would benefit even more being moved to SS. Can you imagine how much ground we can cover with our secondary with Goldson as a SS, and Berry as a FS? We would have the best secondary in the league IMO, with Clements and Spencer as our corners, we would dominate.
I think with all of Goldson' defects he is still a better safety than Roman or M. Lewis. With another year under his belt he could be a probowler. We do need another safety backup for Goldson and for M. Lewis. I do hope that Lewis retires and we net our new safety in and get them playing together in our backfiled.
Human MISSILE !!!!!!!

Goldson would need to add 15-20 pounds to play SS. He doesn't have the frame to do that. He will stay at FS. Too much pounding for him to be involved in the heavy going around the line.

we should draft taylor mays. two great safeties.

Goldson has come a long this year. He is developing into a solid player.

I hope we draft a safety, but i think our Oline needs to be our first priority.

He's 6'2" 205 pounds. How much bigger do you want him to be without completely sacrificing speed/coverage ability.

some great input (its input, with an "n") of you're own!

Mays is a lousy Safety. Takes lousy angles, hardly wraps up (he just tries to run over someone), hes not very natural at the position, and isn't the ball hawk we need.

There's some input for you.

Eric Berry

I want him..
I thought he played much much better as the year went on. I look forward to seeing him ply next year.

Goldson is already involved in heavily in the running game. He's more physical and hits harder than 90% of the SSs in the league. A little weight might do his some good, but he's already pretty solid.

He does not look 205lbs either. He looks closer to 220lbs to me. Regardless, there are plenty of SSs that are under 210lbs.
