Hey guys, Adam Schefter just posted something about the possibility of Cra$tree in a Jets uniform. It requires Insider, so I can't read it. Can someone who has ESPN Insider tell us what is says?

No that was just a suggestion from a questioner:

Quote:

Q: Hey Adam, I know you get a lot of these, but my question involves Michael Crabtree's rights. If nothing comes out of this meeting with York, and he still remains unsigned, can the 49ers trade his rights this year? Or do they have to wait until the start of next year's draft? I think he would be great with the Jets, and he and Mark Sanchez can grow to be a great combination. Thanks. -- Gavin (Bronx, N.Y.)

First and foremost, Gavin, Jed York requested that meeting last week and, as of last night, he still hadn't heard back. So who knows if or when it'll even take place? But here's the deal on San Francisco and trading Crabtree: The deadline to trade him this season passed in mid-August. Now the 49ers have to wait until after this season. They can trade him up until the draft, but they lose his rights at something very close to midnight that Friday, the morning of the draft. Then Crabtree goes back in. So even though San Francisco didn't trade his rights this summer, it always could do that this spring -- and I'd bet the 49ers would if the two sides can't get some type of deal done.
Is it bad that I get jealous when other teams want Crabtree? I feel like he's cheating on us
According to Michael Smith (on ESPN right now, sorry no link) the 49ers haven't changed the offer at all yet.

I say if he doesn't meet with Jed or rejects the offer further, then please Jed, take the offer off the table, hold on to Crabtree's rights and after the season is over come March trade his rights if you can.. If you can't, you make damn sure he doesn't workout for any other teams or be involved in any 2010 Pre-Draft stuff period, cause we hold his rights up to the day of the draft...

And then hope he signs with a team on our schedule so P-Willy can end his career before it get's going...

If he does sign and turns out to be a good teammate and future Pro-bowler/ HOF'er, than all will be forgiven my boy!!!

AND so far his calls have been unreturned is a major sign of disrespect. At this point I don't think I want him on the 49ers. With the offense we have I don't think he would have any major impact until the QB situation is upgraded. Let him go back in the draft,
I now wish him nothing but the worst.

Why do you ninnies continue to think Crabtree won't have any impact with the QB we have? Did you watch him in college? He produced short, med, and long. He had a ton of screen passes that he turned into monster gains. And is his former college QB playing in the NFL?

How many safeties and cornerbacks that he played against are in the NFL? I loved Crabtree in college but he was a man playing against boys, in the NFL cornerbacks can tackle, and Safeties have enough range to take heads off receivers.

Yeah that's how he's going to have to play in the NFL...create separation immediately and then make people miss. He doesn't have top end speed and could never really get away from players in college (like Frank Gore in 2006).
Props to Skip for calling him out saying that he liked Crabtree but did not like the people he surrounded himself with. Michael Smith says that the Crabtree's people are very confident that if he goes into next years draft someone will give him what he wants(Cowsucks) Dam you Jerry Jones I know your scheming something!!!!

Exactly, he is insanely quick I'll give him that, but when your going against CB's that run better then 4.4's there is only so much quickness can do. His best asset is going up and fighting for the ball, but again CB's in college aren't usually that big. Since it came out that he was shorter than he was listed, you have to wonder how well that will translate against the typical 6'0 corner in the nfl, rather than the 5'7-5'10 range you find in college.

Isn't he still in Texas though?

all reports point to him being in Southbay

I got invited to Frank Gore's b-day party. I'm pretty sure Crabtree will be there. I'll let you guys know for sure.

Won't be able to take pics tho so you'll have to take my word for it.

Is that a belated B-Day Party? . . . his birthday is May 14th.

May 14 is the date listed on his birth certificate. Frankly, (no pun intended) I have doubts about the validity his birth certificate but lets not go there.

Update: I'm at Frank's birthday party now here somewhere in the South Bay and have managed to squeeze in on a conversation with Michael Crabtree. I just asked him about the team and he just said that it is killing him to not be out on the field with his teammates. I then asked him about DHB's contract and he said that's killing him even more, so that killer takes precedence over the former killer.

Update: Mike Nolan just ambled over and struck up a conversation with Crabtree. He says that since he is quite idle right now, he should take the opportunity to visit US troops in Afghanistan like Nolan did last year. Nolan says that Michael would be a great morale booster for our troops since he shares a common bond with our troops of just going out on the field and getting the job done despite all the distractions.

what do you guys think of this?

Yeah you are correct, gonna have to run very crisp routes as well, I never thought Crabtree would be much of anything in the NFL. Did not want him here from day 1.
Is this really about money? At times I wonder if he is just using it as an excuse to get to the team he wants (cowboys). I mean his demands are ridiculous for the question marks surrounding him, now im just wondering if he is just trying to destroy his own reputation so that he lands where he wants to land because no other team will take a chance on him. Like I said before, if he disses the owner, thats the ultimate sign of disrespect and no other team besides the one thats tampered with him will sign him.
