Do you guys realize we could essentially get NOTHING for him next March. NADA ZERO ZILCH unless he can negotiate a deal before the trade with them. No team will take him without guarantee that he will put his John Hancock on a deal. Teams won't risk that.

Seriously I think we all need to quit talking about Crabtree, no matter what our opinion is on the matter, the fact is as of right now he is not on our squad.

So lets lock this freaking thread and start talking about the players we do have and how we are gonna crush the f**king cardinals.

This is just getting ridiculous. the same things just keep getting repeated over and over page after page

Well said.... Craptree ain't a 49er. Bannish him, LOCK THIS THREAD

Actually technically speaking he is a 49er...just one who isn't under contract. We still own his rights.

CRABTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow.... how fast & far has the love affair for Crabtree fallen since draft day. Mr.Craptee ain't got NOBODY to blame but his silly little self.

This!

This is Crabtree's fault, no one elses.

It would hurt less than losing him and basically coming out of this draft class with ZERO first day picks.

Again no team is trading for him if they don't have a deal in place with him beforehand. So we could end up losing him back to the draft.

I hear you, man. I wish we could deal em and get something out of it.

If we don't we get something then NBC will be calling Jed and Scotty to ask them to be part of a Celebrity season of The Biggest Loser.

But at least our Front Office held their ground right? Thats the most important issue in this whole thing. Not the 49ers getting better as a franchise

it just doesn't make any sense for Crabs

He wants money, nowhere next year is he gonna get more money than what the 49ers are offering him right now, there's no way he goes top10 next year after being inactive for a whole year

dude

If the Niners wanted they could trade him for a low round pick (6th, 7th) and most any team would take that. 6th and 7th rounders are cut all the time, so not signing him could be a gamble a desperate team is willing to make. If you were the Lions GM would you take the rights for Crabtree for a 7th?
Most of WZ was looking at week 1 as a 'soft deadline' for Crabtree signing. The next real real deadline that matters is the week 10 cut off, after which he can't play for SF at all this season.

I have to believe this is more than just an issue over money. This was sort of a perfect storm of a super diva WR with sub par 'advisers' and a team whose offense is indicating that the WRs will not be seeing the ball that often. Combine that with SF's last 6 seasons of terrible football and you have a bad mix of things that led to this.

I think SF should pretty much tow the line at this point. If they were going to up there offer they should have done it in time for Crabtree to have an impact this season.

Meeting him halfway is also a bad idea. His side is probably throwing around the 30M guaranteed number (what Deion said on NFL network) and SF is holding at 16M. If we give any indication we are willing to meet up he can try to up his number to 32M or 34m. Don't get me wrong, I want SF to spend all the money they can on players, but overspending for a rookie WR is not the way to do it.

you like that we came away with 0 first day picks? that we added a grant total of one player in the draft who will actually play for us? the bottom line is scot came away with what he called his ideal draft and it blew up in his face. if crabtree isnt signed by the end of the year than fire his ass.

If Matt Millen was still in Detroit SF could probably get a 1st from them haha

The only solution is for Crabtree to change agents and get a deal done then. Parker can say he didn't cave, Crabtree can say he didn't have anything to do with it, and the 49ers can say they didn't want to deal with Parker.

I still don't understand how the 49ers can be so stupid to think that they can just offer one contract and be done with "negotiations." Do the Yorks want to get the approval of the fellow owners? The other owners are laughing at them.

I can garuntee you that the other owners (Jerry Jones excluded) are NOT laughing at the Niners. I'm sure they are VERY thankful to the Yorks for not caving and breaking the slotting system.

How can you guarantee that ?

They probably are laughing at us for not attempting to meet in the middle somewhere and show that we are at least trying to sign him.

They are also going to be thankful for us for basically drafting him for another team or allowing him to re-enter the draft thus adding to the talent available in next years draft.

The NFL is a business. If 1 person overpays for a commodity it drives up the market value. Not to mention how many of these other organizations would be dealing with the Crabtree situation next year if the Niners cave. Again these are businessmen and us caving hurts their bottom line.

Thanks for showing me how to spell guarantee though.

When Fitz or Brady Quinn broke the slotting system how did that affect the following year's draft and getting players signed ? It did not.

Quinn = QB
Fitz met his escalators that made his contract huge. His deal was 6 years 20 mil in guaranteed $.

now that the 49ers will reduce the offer, he will probably see similar money in the top 15 or top 20

Remember, if he puts up a solid 40 (could hold a public workout i guess). He will go in the 1st round.

The Redskins might still do this for us. They like taking our deadweight

I sort of agree with firing Scott McM. Sign-ability is a MAJOR issue with top 15 picks and even though SF may have never thought Crabtree would fall to them they should have done their due diligence regarding what kind of advisors, posse, and demands this guy is going to bring with him.

I don't recall a documented 40 for him. He could know limitations and may not be ever capable of doing sub 4.5
At this point....

Who would blame the 9ers organization, and the whole team if they all felt........

Craptree = D-i-s-t-r-a-c-t-i-o-n

There is a NFC West divison to win, remember?

Come Monday morning.... Modes LOCK THIS THREAD

Craptree ain't on this team
