* The dude is the second coming of his idol, Deion Sanders, character, personality wise.
*IF, and this is a BIG if, Craptree comes to his senses and joins this 9ers team, I think he can GROW-UP quick because he will be surrounded by young super star talent and superstar character players to learn from in Willis-Gore-Davis (Yes, Davis himself has finally got it together) Morgan (yep, i think this guy produces big this season) plus the head man to guild him too in Singletary.
I think this is the BEST "young and upcoming team" for Craptree to learn how to be a a true professional .... But I don't know if Craptree recognizeds this.
-What attention was he seeking in college ? To be recognized as a great WR by producing on the field ?
-There is nothing wrong with liking clothes, jewelry or cars. It's better than him liking drugs, alcohol and strip clubs.
-How is he like Deion outisde of his fashion sense ? Wanting to be paid ? Larry Fitzgerald wanted to be paid as a rookie and was paid outside of his slotted worth does that make him like Deion ? We have seen so little of his character and personality to be able to truly say they are one in the same. Stop trying to spin everything to characterize Crabtree as something you can't prove but assume.
-When has Vernon Davis proved to be a superstar talent ? I think I missed that season of 49ers football.
Your continual character assassination of Michael Crabtree is becoming beyond ridiculous. Your so angry that he doesn't feel the slotted worth is a fair deal for him that you have taken to campaigning to classify him as something you can't prove. You continuously make baseless claims and fail to ever provide evidence and twist and turn anything said about him.
Your bottom line fails.

Jimmy Raye has said he doesn't allow players to take the playbook off site.
That doesn't mean it can't be on some secret online web-site. lol j/k
He is probably just learning basic plays, so they could use him in some fashion if he were to sign.
This would be my guess. At least he would be able to step on the field & run a couple routes in game situations.
One of Crabtree's highlight plays was a receiver screen. Assuming Raye has the play, CB wouldn't have to practice that. "Line up like you did at Tech, kid. Run the screen route like you did at Tech, catch the ball like you did at Tech, score a TD like you did at Tech. Thanks for showing up, kid."

Deion Sanders really f'd us to when he told Singletary he would have no problems with this kid and helped convince Singletary to draft him if he was available. Of course we know McCloughan had the final say and word is Singletary still wanted Oher or over Crabtree but I also admit that I would have went nuts if we drafted Oher over Crabtree on draft day. Looking back at it now though, man I wish we took Oher, or Percy Harvin or Orakpo or really anyone but this punkass diva.
What Deion told Sing was about on the field and off the field as a player. What is happening right now is not in Singletary's control and should be of no concern to the Head Coach. It has everything to do with the business aspect of the sport. The Head Coach's concern is with the players he has on his 53 man roster right now. He can't sit around worrying about the business aspect between a player not on his 53 and the FO.

Dilfer, on Crabtree: "The kid is a really fine athlete. A lot has been made of his holdout, and I agreed early on that I wouldn't get in on all that. That's not my role as an analyst for ESPN. I have a close relationship with the 49ers people, so it just wasn't appropriate for me to get involved in that realm. But I felt I could mentor him, coach him up, help him out, and be a live arm for him to catch some live balls.
I was very impressed. He was in great shape. He works incredibly hard. He's actually in one-on-one time with him a humble kid, he wants to learn and he wants to be great, and that is what struck me after a couple days with him, how great he wants to be, how he approached it, and I was thoroughly impressed in my two day workout with him.
Q: Some have said that he has not been working out due to a football injury. Is it true?
Dilfer: "I can tell you that it isn't true. He's very healthy, he can line up right now and play, so you can take it from me, those rumors are not true."
Q: Is this kid making a smart move? Is there an end game for holding out as long as he has?
Dilfer: "I don't see it. I don't see it this late in the process. I understand holdouts early in the process. I understand their pride is being hurt. I really believe he is much better than the two receivers taken ahead of him. I think the 49ers believe it, that there is no doubt about that. But, I don't know what is going on now. I think he is getting some advice from some people, not real good advice, but I also think he is a very, you know he compartmentalizes things, the kid impresses me because he is very focused, you see him saying, I'm going to focus on getting better, and I'm going to let the people that I hired do the other stuff; he doesn't know the business and he is so locked up is his world of getting better and being prepared, I can see him compartmentalizing this and not seeing the end result of this.
Q: It just seems such a waste. Football players' careers are so short, and to throw a year away is just sad, I hope he comes to an agreement, but I don't know if he will.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The interview continues with a question about Eric Mangini (this is the same person who accused Michael Crabtree of being a diva, and then passing on him with the 5th overall by trading down). The questioner and Trent Dilfer both proclaim the complete shock over the stupidity of Mangini not naming a starting QB. Interesting transition from the Crabtree conversation.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In conclusion: I have encouraged the board for weeks now not to make character assassinations on Crabtree, as nobody really knows if he is the "greedy, selfish, evil" person labeled by many on the board. It seems that Trent Dilfer did not get that impression at all after spending two days with the kid. Now, could he have been bluffing? Maybe. However, I think it is premature to blame the kid for the contract negotiation, as many have suggested, and even more foolish and premature to paint him as a bad guy.
I wish him the best on his next franchise.
Dilfer is a brown-noser. Remember all the great things he said about Alex Smith? He actually played with Alex Smith, he threw some passes to Crabtree and now he KNOWS what type a person Crabtree is? I'm calling bull.
Dilfer -- 'Jim Hostler will be a superstar offensive coordinator in this league'.
Nuff said.
And Jim Hostler could one day be a superstar OC. Obviously he was rished into something he wasn't ready for and is in another great situation for his career right now, learning under Cam Cameron.
Geez MadDog, sure sounds like we have a "DIVA" on our hands by what Dilfer said.

Even if he signed at this point, he couldn't conceivably crack our starting lineup until like week six. Best case scenario, I reckon, is we forget about him, save that money on our books, and trade him next spring for a 2nd or 3rd rounder . Someone'll bite (Oakland?). Here's to Hill, Spurlock, Zeigler filling that slot role behind Bruce and Morgan.
BTW, F^@& Craptree! ! !
Shanghai'D
Zeigler is on the PS, gonna be hard to fill the slot role from there.
Hey guys....I figured out what Crabtree has been up to. Check it out

Good read. I do have to say that, even if Crabtree is gettin' bad advise, he has to be smart enough to realize by now that their advise is not in HIS best interest. I do think Niners should break the 10th slot and offer him a deal between the 8th and 9th slot and meet him half way. I think this way, both Niners and Crabtree's team can save face. I also think Niners need to include easier to achieve incentives such as a pro-bowl appearance in the 3rd season should trigger a bonus in the 4th year or something like that.
If that was the case, he would have signed by now, correct?
Therefore, it is not the case. Therefore, he is not smart. In fact, most likely quite the opposite.
The only people "wishing him well" at this point are, his mother, his advisors, and MadDog.
9 times out of 10, when an NFL player is described as a "good kid," its because they are trying to gloss something over.
All of these players have been described as "good kids":
Terrell Owens
Randy Moss
Michael Vick
Plaxico Burress
O.J. Simpson (also described as a "good husband")
Maurice Clarett
Leonard Little
Chris Henry
Pacman Jones
The list goes on and on...
Most of them are not murderers, some don't break the law, so I guess that makes them "good."
Has Patrick Willis ever been called a "good kid"? Thankfully, not from my recollection. But that is a good thing.
Because if you need to be described as a "good kid," its because that very idea has been COMPROMISED at some point.
Its so obvious that players like Patrick Willis and Frank Gore are "good kids," that they are NEVER called "good kids" in the first place!
Michael Crabtree's a "good kid"?
Good riddance!
I highlighted 2 players who stood out as they had a well known history in college of on and off the field problems and were not labeled as "good kids" coming out. There were red flags surrounding both players.
Analysts and experts label a lot of players coming in as good kids and they go on to stay as such.
This is a terrible post and another terrible attempt at making Crabtree look like something no one on this website can prove he is or is not.

Crabtree gets tackles after only a 2 yard gain. Crabtree asks what he did wrong. Raye responds, "At Tech you ran that play against slower and less talented mofos".

I just don't think it will happen. The Niners have leaked their position that they will not move out of the tenth overall slot, and Crabtree is not going to cave.
So, this is simply not going to happen. I don't see either side caving. Both have dug in, and both are bound to save face.
As stated for some time now, only a unique contract, in which both sides can claim victory, and save face, is the only hope.

If he wants to play games then let him sit.......we will trade his rights before the draft and then we will hopfully have 3 FIRST ROUND PICKS for the 2010 draft..... ahhhh that would be sweet

Ahhh the let's look at this from only 1 angle response. Maybe it's the 49ers who are the ones to fault, for not playing the game and trying to find a happy medium.
There are 2 sides to a coin and as MD reminded us it takes
2 yes
T-W-O to tango! Both sides need to learn to dance, perhaps Jerry Rice could teach them a thing or 2 he learned when he danced with the stars!

I have an idea, I stole it from others.
Lets make a Crabtree Forum. Instead of a long long thread no one bothers to read.
Once the Forum is created. N00bs will only see and be allowed to post in the Crabtree forum until they are recommended for entrance into the rest of the zone, Forum by forum.
As an additional benefit. No more Bannings from the Zone. All Bannings will be to the Crabtree forum.

To me, the response by many on the board, is very disturbing. The attempt to make character assassinations on this kid is out of control at this point.
We've had comparisons to Randy Moss, who was arrested for a violent assault in college, was in trouble with the law for smoking marijuana, and more.
We have seen him characterized as "greedy", "selfish", "stubborn", and people have attempted to label his friends as a crime syndicate.
We have had many argue that he is a "diva", something that Eric Mangini (one of the least trustworthy guys in the NFL) stated.
And, on and on, the list goes.
So, the bottom line is that if anyone disagrees with Niners' management, the acceptable position is to attempt to smear their character, make them look like an arrogant, greedy, evil, bad person, who hangs out with criminals.
These people making these statements are the same ones that celebrated his selection in April, as one of the greatest gifts from the gods. And, I'm taking a wild guess here, they would not have made any of these inflammatory statements if he had simply agreed with Niners' management and signed on the dotted line.
I think we have come down to only a handful of people who can rationally argue the Niners' management position on this board, even though the Niners have a good argument. The majority seem to be resting their argument on Crabtree being vile. And that is pathetic.
