Singletary isn't a good coach, jimmy raye sucks. Why don't you just find another interest or find another team. I have a nice gesture for you all, just shut up.

Youre not half the fan I am.

I have the 49er logo tattoed to my body. I've seen more losing seasons than winning seasons. I grew a 49er fan in Texas...Cowboy Country. I'm 22 and I moved to SF just to be close to my Niners. I'm a season ticket holder.

and that makes you more of a fan how???? Do you know anything about this guy? Probably not. His tattoo could be on his forhead for all you know
The butterflies I get every morning on game day. The giddy anticipation deep down in my heart as the good ol' red and gold takes the field. "Maybe today is the day."

Later.....

The gritty, grinding sound my teeth make once the realization has set in (usually before halftime these days) that another game is lost.

Sometimes, on occasion, we win. I can brag to my friends about how awesome our boys were out there. Nothing else matters the rest of the week, it's all bliss.

Then......

All the time I waste on the Webzone all week talking about my beloved Niners. Sometimes it's praise, sometimes it's hate, but it's still love all the same.

A true fan understands that we suck and calls it like it is.

a non bandwagoner
28 years; 2 broken tv's; multiple remotes gone; self imposed 3 month silence after the craig fumble; tears when jerry got hurt then left; temp. apathy towards the org for montana/lott; i still think jeff fuller had a good career ahead of him before the injury against the pats

and now what, 8 years of this garbage and i still watch every game
i lub this team sooo much when they loose i still dont really wanna talk until the wound closes some.

go niners!!!!!!

Anyone who is emotionally attached to the team is a fan of that team.

If you disagree, tell me how YOU determine who is or who is not a "true 49ers fan."

A.) A "true" fan is someone who...

B.) Someone who is "not a true fan" is someone who...

Is someone who no matter how bad the niners play, still uses them on madden.

Someone who is not a true fan would obviously be someone who likes another team more...haha
A.) A true fan is one who supports the team only when they are good and criticizes them mercilessly when they are bad until they are good again, which they have no hope will ever happen again.

B.) A bad fan is one who supports the team even when they are bad, always hoping and being optimistic that the team will get better.
All of us posting here are true fans. We just root for the team, which does not mean that we have a no limit admiration. If things do not go in the right direction (as currently !), we have to speak up.

Here is how I got "caught":

I spent one year as a foreign student in a US university in 1988-89 and discovered both the game itself and the exceptional team SF had then.

After returning to Switzerland, I continued to follow the team (it has been 21 years now) through the armed forces radio (broadcasting from Frankfurt, Germany) first and then the Internet as it developped.

In a way, this is an addiction (a nice one !) and I cannot spend one day without checking whether there are any news.

The last eight years have been painful, but I guess that the true fans are still here, supporting the team and hoping for better days.

By the way, I'll be in Wembley stadium on October 31st.

Go Niners !

Whoaa, pretty simple:
Tenure; you must be hardcore for a minimum of 10 years. Anything less are levels of apprenticeship, novice, maybe it will last, etc.

Clarity of evaluation of the team you worship. This includes The owners, Front office, coaches and players. Clarity means you don't eval in terms of "potential" performances, minimum numbers of times an individual has performed up to snuff; but how consistent their performance have been over a period not less than 2 years.

Live game attendance; You have to go, period. If you are a fan that got their fanaticism from TV, Lore or winning years replete with numerous SB wins, Division and Conference Championships, or simply really liked the team colors and or unis. then it's like a probation period. There are NO more rabid followers than those who have sat in the rain, sleet (if you have traveled), etc, through horrid losses and elevating wins. Unfortunately it's kind of like people who wear punk cloths and hair cuts but..go home and say grace with fervor..no harm no foul.

This section includes traveling to away games and making your presence felt in The LOT and stadium.

Blind acquiescence to improper team management, training or any other; just going along for the ride fanship constitutes idiocy over and beyond the call of duty and a misunderstanding of what it is all about being "true" to the team Being an non-objective analyst of the team you love is a sign of fan perversion regarding how one see their symbiotic relationship to their team.

For the last 10 years plus and more in other activities, active promotion in advertising has made the case that anyone can become a fan or real live participant of whatever it is: Surfing, Authentic Cultural Phenomenons, Sports Teams, etc..just by buying into the idea. This of course is complete BS and a way to make even more money off of the lambs of the land who go forth into nothingness to work another hour but who have no other meaningful activities to fill their lives, with meaning.

In other words; They never worked or participated with passion for the identity they want to project. It becomes an empty lie.

Nothing is free and without the pain, to gain..

How long could I go on? Never enough time, never.

GO NINERS!!!

But get rid of the wankers who hold you back. Get rid of the underwhelming underachievers who hold your success back. This includes anyone on the team and organization who fits this bill...

And to you who think your opinion is the only one that carries weight, I call BS. You are probably one of those people who have never been to a game let alone sat in the rain, snow, ice, or had your last two beers bought before they turned off sales, stashed under your seat for the right time, only to be spilled on a great play when everyone jumped up and all hell broke loose. So sad to see the waterfall of beer tumble down the seat levels into other peoples gear. But more important, to not have those last couple beers to toast to another Niner Championship.. or these days, at least a win..

BOOO YAAAA NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with you bro. I remember all that, gezzz.. When Jerry hurt that knees on the TD, he just siad, I make this TD.. oh wow, you bring back too much, you know, don't you..

Where you at the NFC Champ game with the Rams and did you see the white El Caminio draggin a madeup doll of Everett throu the lot with people doing nasty things to it? Did you see the Farve doll, same thing in the lot when Steve finally got over?

Do you remember the "Make More Noise" news posters on the pota-poties during the 80's-90's??

Me, where do/did you park man??

Yeah I was at Stanford when we had to play games there while studying the impact of the Quake on the Stick was going down, when Fuller went down. I can remember so many people had so many tears and it was like; what now?? The earthquake wasn't enough, now we see a favorite player go down and NOT get up..

When the ambulance came on field and took him away..well the entire Stanford stadium was deflated to the max.. HE was never the same and Eddie D has been paying special payments to him, as far as I know, to this day for his excellence as a Niner and one, who went down for the count playing for our team.. just wow..

We are still on the WEBZONE trying to decipher the problem. I also keep paying for the Sunday ticket every year so I can watch my squad play or go to the sports bar and deal with drunks. Every morning my team is about to play It feels like Christmas and that the beginning of our new Dynasty is about to begin. When we lose and I have to hear everyones mouth. Then some tough guy always takes it too far cause he's a moron and a drunk.I do my best ignore them. Then I watch the highlights of our team then he pops off at the mouth and invades my space and that's when the beating begins. Lol just some scenarios. but I have been following the niners since1985.

WTF? Haven't we already had enough threads like this one? Enough!
Anyone that is still with them after all the BS of the past ten years I would call a fan.
